With a heavy heart I will concede that the PS3 has the potential to be a more capable console, though nobody truely knows how well the processor core will perform.
Expect anothe 18-24months before developers start getting the best from it. Obviously, the new XBOX will be out by then, but not games to show off its power.
However, for most occasional gamers, console power, graphical capabilities et el are missing the point, as the Wii's success has shown. The 'fun' has dropped out of such consoles unless you are a hardcore gamer.
Exactly! I like the 360, the PS3 is 'ok', the Wii is awesome! Purely on the level of entertainment from the games!
360 has some very good games which the PS3 doesn't, the online features on the 360 I find are much better than the PS3 (so I didn't mind paying for Live) The PS3 still feels just like something hashed together, no centralised buddy or naming system, its a bit of a mess...
But again, the PS3 has some quality games itself (Ratchet and Clank for example).
I couldn't care about the tech specs, blu-ray, or whatever. I purely go for the quality of the game on the system! Don't get me wrong, good graphics do help towards it to a point, but some companies are focusing far too much on the realism of the environments than the gameplay itself!
I still like dusting off the Snes or Megadrive for some quality old-skool gameage. Even Goldeneye on the N64 is something which has to be played when mates are round!
