Phaeton is far better than the Audi A6... It was designed to meet a very stringent requirement in luxury, so you get a lot of car for not a lot of money in comparison to certain other marques....  Trying to think of anything Japanese that reaches anything close to the Phaeton....

I would disagree.I would have had a Lexus LS400 over either of them,but the newer (LS430) is hideously ugly.

its been long time Germany started making   "consumable" cars even in high segment..
 
personally I wouldnt like to spend most of my time and money in services if I have that budget..
 
Lexus,Infinity,Accord,Nissan are all more reliable ..

besides in my eyes, jap cars have better internal design than german cars on the avg with few exceptions

Yeh but for me, there is pretty much nothing Jap that ticks the boxes, there all so bland and uninteresting to drive.
