Ferritin is a surrogate marker for iron stores in the body. Low in women due to monthly blood loss. The fact that you give blood could account for the low ferritin level. I am surprised why someone did a ferritin level without you being anaemic. If you are not anaemic then the low ferritin is of no significance and can be safely ignored. Unless you suffer form other chronic conditions, particularly kidney disease.
