……….
Ouch! £150 a fill used to be the preserve of range rover owners.
………..

I was thinking that yesterday as I filled the Audi up and watched it sail up to £115. At current diesel prices mine will hold just over £130 from empty.  :o

Still no dirty diesel here :(
They're sending it all up north, loads here  :)
When I drove past Barnsleyfield a couple of weeks ago, fuel was readily available.  I noticed every car was a Kia as well.  What a tight thrifty lot you all are ;D

Not realising there was a shortage this way, I just chucked in £40 in Berwick to get home.  Now I've just about used all that. Wish I'd filled the bugger up there ;D
Yes, an inordinate amount of Kias and Hyundais. Also a lot of diesels, no one wants to get less than 50mpg.  ;D

I've taken to filling up at 3/4 rather than light on. Putting £40 a time in feels better than £150... And I know that if I need to get somewhere I have the fuel to do it.
I would always normally fill (or £99, if thats all they let me have), but it was already carrying an awful lot of weight, so I filled it with enough to get home (plus a good margin, so I didn't have to stop).

I concur that putting small amounts in is a bit pointless for most, but guess if you normally use so little than £40 will last a month, there may be efficiency savings from not lugging 100kg of fuel around.  Though if £40 lasts a month, maybe a milk float is a viable option.

Is that why they were clogging up the A1 doing 35mph in the outside lane ;D

That's the kicker. £40 of diesel equates to 100-150 miles, or more than a Leaf or ECorsa can manage... (for reference, my daily commute is a 52 mile round trip)

If you're only doing 150 miles a month, then I would question having need of a car of any fuel... Certainly paying the £20-25k either of the above cost, just to have them sat there makes even less sense.

As an aside, the car park I use has 20 EV/Hybrid spaces, but 0 chargers, rendering the whole debate moot.

As for worrying about the weight of the fuel, that's a waste of time and emotional energy... What you gain in economy from keeping the tank below a quarter is offset by constantly needing to fill up and there is potential for mechanical issues from constantly running low.

Whilst keeping the tank topped up is ostensibly the same, if I can't get fuel for a couple of days, that's much less of an issue than not being able to use the car because the light is on.

Did a 35 mile round trip to pay BP 179.9p a litre for dirty diesel.

At least I have a good 500 miles now.

Got bored earlier so went out to find some unleaded. Supermarkets except Tesco coned off  and they had no diesel either. Got some at a local Esso for £163 pl. Tractor juice seems the biggest problem around here. Is it the same everywhere else?

No problems at all here and Mrs filled up in Bognor earlier today.
This is the problem down there, I think:

According to that BBC report about the protest at Buncefield Oil Terminal in Hemel Hempstead, the Police were called at 0220 with reports of people blocking the entrance and they were cleared by 1200.  ::)

WTF were the Police doing?  Making them cuppas and ensuring they were warm and comfortable?  >:(

EDIT: That was a silly question because the answer is almost certainly YES!  ::)  >:(
