Omega Electrical and Audio Help / Fuel gauge question
« on: 19 July 2009, 18:12:26 »
Having a slight issue in that my fuel light no longer lights. Neither does it flash, I have changed the bulb various times and still nothing. Also, when the Range dips below 30miles the MID starts flashing. This also does not happen. Gauge itself works fine.

Is this something that is programmed? Has happened ever since I had the battery go on me so wondering if it's possibly that it has lost its programming if that is the case.

Omega Electrical and Audio Help / CCRT Tuning Issue
« on: 06 July 2009, 23:27:25 »
my CCRT700 only tunes to odd numbered frequencies (eg. 94.7 then 94.9 but NOT 94.8)

I noticed someone mentioned this a few days ago but there was no response. My preferred station is 105.2 so I can't currently get it! Any ideas?

Thanks

Omega Electrical and Audio Help / CCRT700 Code input
« on: 15 June 2009, 18:54:33 »
Can anyone confirm how the code is entered on a CCRT700? I've tried the usual of holding AS and turning unit on. I get 'Radio Safe' displayed. I've currently left it on in the hope that someone has popped the wrong code in a few times and its in its countdown. But just in case there is a different method I thought I'd ask.

Thanks

Omega General Help / Exhaust joint
« on: 17 September 2009, 12:20:24 »
Ok, anyone know if the OE screws I can get from VX would be any good for these center section joints? Or will I just need a nut, bolt and couple of washers. Any idea on size of bolt? Just this that needs doing now and I can fire up the Elite again

Omega General Help / Exhaust fitting tips
« on: 07 September 2009, 19:52:43 »
Right well, continuing work on the Elite. Managed to change cats and droplinks today.

With the rest of the exhaust, does anyone have any tips for fitting? It doesn't seem a very good fit where the middle pipe joins the cat, it is sort of trumpeted but the cat flange doesn't sit in the 'trumpet' very well. Also, with the paste, any tips for making sure it is nicely sealed? It's a bit difficult to get to the top of the join when lying under the car.

Same again for the middle to rear joint. Where does the paste go and how tight to clamp it up?

Thanks

Omega General Help / Clocks
« on: 31 August 2009, 11:01:51 »
Right, I know I've been here before and so I apologise for the thread but I am confused.

To replace my own, do I need clocks with exactly the same numbers? Or does the ident just need to be the same? Ie, after the Opel part number on the barcoded label are usually two letters, mine are PR. A friendly parts bloke showed me the EPC for the clocks and there are all sorts of different idents.

If anyone could clear that up would be great

Thanks

Omega General Help / Cam cover gaskets done.....but...
« on: 14 August 2009, 19:10:59 »
Good news! I've done the cam cover gaskets and cleaned the breathers. All went back together ok

However, Mig is still misfiring. It's better, on a road test it was actually driveable but I did lose power once briefly and on coasting to a stop it died. I double checked everything was connected and put back on so nothing has been left off.

Was a bit of a smoky start but after that all was well, til it started misfiring again. As I say, on a road test the throttle actually did something straight away, whereas before I could put my foot down and there would be nothing.

Whats up now?!  :-/

Omega General Help / DIS pack and leads
« on: 24 August 2009, 19:28:23 »
Ok, so payday tomorrow. Other than Ebay, where else can I look for said items? I know I can get a set of leads from ABS. Anywhere else? What about the DIS pack?

Hoping this clears my misfire, I can't see any other reason otherwise

Omega General Help / Misfire Update
« on: 25 August 2009, 16:44:08 »
Right, just went out to the car with the intention of pulling the DIS pack out. Thought I'd start her up first so I did. Ran absolutely fine until the SAI cut out and then after that only very slightly rough every so often.

I'm thinking that the DIS could be ok? There was no oil in plug wells 5 and 6 so thinking that the gaskets didn't go there and let oil on the DIS pack. Is this feasible?

Am thinking of just changing the leads and seeing where that gets me.

Any thoughts?

[edit]One other thing, could the cats be causing a misfire? One or both has gone and I have a pair waiting to go on but don't want to put them on a misfiring car in case it kills them too.[/edit]

Omega General Help / Urgent: Oil in bores
« on: 13 August 2009, 14:34:08 »
Mig is currently in bits outside having the cam cover gaskets done. I was absolutely atonished at the amount of oil in wells 2 and 4. Those plugs were actually immersed fully in oil.

Now I have removed as much oil as I can. I cannot seem to get anymore out. What would be the consequences of some oil in the bores if I took the plugs out to replace them with that oil still in there?

Thanks

Ok, so pulled the dash out to find the numbers on the clocks.

Will try to pm those who are waiting but thought I'd pop here in case I miss anyone.

Main number at bottom of clocks where it says VDO: 88 481 706 and the number 1 under VDO

Top left hand corner on the white plastic 81 117 876 (not sure this is needed) on the board just under it Delphi 1998

On a sticky label in middle of clocks: Delphi 831 0498.20

On top edge of clocks accompanied with a barcode: VDO 110.008.813/006 and Opel 90 564 492 PR

Another thing to note, the EM light is flickering away now with the speedo. Flickers faster the slower the engine revs, ie accelerate and it'll flicker much more slowly until its almost flashing, ease off the throttle and it'll flicker faster, dip the clutch flickers faster still.

Omega General Help / V6 cats
« on: 24 July 2009, 22:07:33 »
Where can I get a pair?

I believe one (or both) is knackered and this is causing the raspiness.

I bought my system from onlineautomotive.com but the cats there are £100 each. Anywhere where they may be cheaper? Need to sort it as I don't think the paste has sealed properly as I can hear it blowing as well as being raspy. It's also knocking sometimes so I need to get under and refit it all properly

Can anyone confirm the correct order of nuts and washers on the cat to centre pipe joint?

Thanks

Omega General Help / Intermittant stalling
« on: 16 July 2009, 19:11:43 »
Right for a few weeks now I've had this problem. Occurs very much out of the blue. Approach a junction, drop the clutch and engine dies and dash lights up. Restarting can be difficult and revs have to be kept up to keep going. Hesitates sometimes too. It'll stop and return to normal as suddenly as it starts

Now I know I ought to wait til I have it Tech 2'd but as there is no EML on I thought that might not show anything up. The only fault code stored is 74, which I'm starting to think is an old one

My thoughts are:

Crank Sensor (but have no fault code)
Dispack starting to break down
Cat failure resulting in a blockage (would explain why a new cat back system has not cured the raspiness)

Any other thoughts? It's getting a little bit silly now when it happens in the middle of a roundabout.

Thanks

Omega General Help / Sat Nav speaker
« on: 09 July 2009, 10:11:28 »
Can anyone provide a picture of what I'm looking for and where. I'm led to believe that it is in the passenger footwell but I cannot see it. Has someone stolen my speaker!?

I ask as mine works but I have no voice coming from it. I have checked the volume settings and turned them up to full but still nothing.
