More changes without any notifications.  Allthough they said they have sent notification via snail mail.

The sods have swapped the 3% cash back items to 1% and vice versa. :-\

So I had my TV licence  3 Mobile bills, 2 ISP bills (mine and someone elses) a total of just £123 a month @ 3% cash back. :-\

My Water bill that was 1% (£23 monthly) now earns 3% cash back. :-\

Plus I also found out the the 1.5% on the bank balance hasnt been for quite a while and is currenly 0.6% and is dropping to 0.3% in April. :-X

Glad they have Wi-fi fitted  :y

Bought a 700w PSU last night, delivering today (If it happens) Paid £73.99

If I want another today it will cost me £81. >:(

I have also bought a lot of modular shelving and the same item can vary by £14 overnight. >:(

Amazon prime.  Often next day delivery on the advert, once paid for it often changes to 2/3 days delivery.  But had 2 seperate deliveries that once it gets tp 5pm, it gets delayed to another day 2 days after.

Also, items that never arrive, getting loads not getting here.  Put a note to the seller and get an instant refund.  Makes me wonder if they actually send the smaller price items from abroad hopeing the buyer doesnt notice.  Did see a post on FB of a container ship losing a load of containers at sea but not sure if that was a spoof as there was a picture from the back of the ship as it happend or could be genuine and the reason loads of packages go missing.

Omega Electrical and Audio Help / Isolater Switch
« on: 05 January 2021, 17:30:39 »
My cars get little use, so they often suffer from flat batterys, main car is parked on the road.

AA man used an extension cable with an Anderson connector on the end which is something I had considered fitting at some point but could not think of anywhere suitable to fit it.

Then he suggested a battery master switch like the rally cars have, but yet again where to fit it with out lifting the bonnet. he also said it only needed fitting on the earth strap.  Then convesrsation got a bit silly with a mention of a relay that could be activated just after doors locked to isolate the battery, the flaw there was it needs power to power it all back up.

But in this world that we live in are there any such devices out there.

Omega Electrical and Audio Help / 2 Different problems.
« on: 05 January 2021, 17:19:11 »
1st problem.

Had a new battery fitted on 1st Dec etc, used again on the 4th Dec to get car MOT.

Used a couple of times just before christmas, Go out today to check car before an apoinment I have tomorrow to a totally dead battery.

AA man reckons it has been drained by something left switched on.  On connection the hazzards were flashing and would not switch off till remote fob was used.  Had the hazards active on another Omega in the past with a flat battery.  Is this a common issues with these cars.

If the fault is with the alarm, If thats the case what then do I look for or simply can it be disabled.

---------------

2nd problem.

During driving round the rev counter and speedo stopped working, all other gauges ok.   AA reported a mileage of 56027, when I saw the speedo was not working the oddometer was 56041 but then watched it change to 42 would the oddmeter still carry on recording if there was fault or are the reedles inactive a fault on thir own.

General Discussion Area / Boiler Advice Please.
« on: 19 December 2020, 20:50:04 »
My friend (A pensioner) is struggling regards her broken down heating.

They have had several plumbers out for quotes and advice to fix her boiler then give back word.

So I am wondering what help is out there for them.  They mentioned the Goverment was suggesting doing away with Gas boilers for a more energy efficient future.

So what are thier options?

The Baxi Bermuda it seems is not that efficient anyway.  so they think the combi boiler that i have may be a consideration for the future.  Then someone mentioned to them about an electric boiler/combo system.

Someone else told them they may be eligable for a grant towards it.

Another mention was solor panels could be an advantage to offset running costs.

Its all a minefield and wondered what info might be available from knowledgeable OOF members.-

General Discussion Area / N.A.S. Advice
« on: 11 December 2020, 13:09:31 »
It has come to a time that I now have to consider a dedicated storage system.  I am not technically minded enough to know whats best for me so hence I require advice. ::)

Having taken 1000's of pictures & video's over the years and sorted them into various named folders etc, backed them up to other PC's using Windows 95 through to the current Windows 10 Pro 64bit things have got into quite a disarray with some folders having 50+ copies of the same picture.

So the questions are.

Whats the equivalent (or better) than my old fav program XTree Gold.  Loved how you could define what you could copy/move/delete in the way of folder/structures and file types.

Then a NAS/RAID storage system, tried the Motherboard/software contolled type once and got everything screwed up when trying to retrive it.  So now looking at N.A.S. and thats where I give up.

I currently have 6TB of photo's then copied on to a 2nd 6TB drive, possibly as little as 2 TB once sifted & sorted.

Now looking to stOre multiple file typeS, .xls etc photo's, video's & backups from 2 dash cams.

I reckon for the moment 12TB would suffice for a couple more years but do I need to use a mirror setup (and would that be 1 or 2 NAS units?) or a stripe system.  Also bearing in mind I do a lot of searhing through the drives looking for certain items or folders.

I now have a headache and need to sleep.

Here some of the Brands I have seen on Amazon

Synology
Western Digital
TERRAMASTER
QNAP
Seagate
WD-40
ORICO
SSK
Toshiba
Asustor

TIA for any advice.

Car was parked up on 15th March, did'nt turn a wheel till last week due to virus etc. :(

AA called out and yet another battery fitted. :-X

Car started 1st turn of the key. 8)

Thought the brakes might have been seized, but no problem there at all.   :y

Carefull drive arround to check eveything out and clean the brakes up.

Then a couple of days later for the MOT.

Another 12 month ticket, no issues.  56,013 miles on the clock. :y :y

Ather happy Omega owner here. :D
