It has gone out itself just took a while to think about it first.

Omega General Help / engine warning light

I have just replaced a faulty lambda sensor but the engine warning light is still on. Does this need to reset with a diagnostic machine or should it go out itself.

The ABS ecu lacks the functionality, and the Omega 2.2 ecu may not have the code in it to do it.

Certainly not worth the effort on 2.2 - you have to put some effort into wheelspin ;)

I'm thinking more about when the wife's driving it in the winter, I nicknamed her Tron

I was just wondering about it, I would only do it if was an easy install I might have a look at the wiring behind the centre console and have a look one day and see if there is wiring already there.

Would it be possible to fit traction control to 2.2cdx petrol, if so how hard would it be and what would be needed.
Cheers

Sure fire way to find out if your HG has failed is get a compression test done on each cylinder, if the the gasket has gone one or two will be lower than the rest. The water could be leaking into the cylinder there for no external leaks will be noticed and performance might not be affected however usually your car would suffer from poor idle.
The test the dealers are saying they have done is called a sniff test by most where they are checking for exhaust gases in the coolant.
Get the test done and then you will no for certain.

Omega General Help / Re: Valvoline or Shell in mig?
« on: 26 May 2009, 23:50:49 »
I used to use valvoline semi synthetic years back and couldn't fault it however now I find it overpriced. personally I would just get any semi synthetic and change it at about 6000 miles.

I can see where your coming from but it still looks better than the standard single pipe, I'm thinking of putting a 3.2 back box on my 2.2 estate but might aswell just get a cheapy if thats what the dealers are seling now.

Omega General Help / Re: Reversing Sensors?
« on: 30 April 2009, 20:39:49 »
I fitted a set to our facelift estate, it was fairly straight forward really the drill bit needed was in the kit and it came with easy enough to follow instructions.
Find the centre line of the bumper and if I remember rightly mearsure 20cm each side for the first 2 holes and then 40cm past each of them for the outer 2 I measured them 50mm up from the line in the bumper, I will put up a pic tommorrow for you.
The wiring is a doddle as it all just plugs into to the unit after taking a live from your nearest side reverse light.
Hope this helps.

Kumho Ecsta KU31 have really good test results and fairly cheap..

I have used these on 3 different cars including my old MV6 and wouldn't use anything else for everyday use.
There as good as most premium tyres for nearly half the price. I think I was the first to reccomend these last year after fitting them to my MV6 and the wife's c class.

I have found recently that my local tyre dealers have been matching internet pricesonce you take into account the cost of having them fitted and balanced worth shopping around local first with an internet quote in hand for reference.
