Omega General Help / Front wishbones
« on: 11 January 2015, 21:35:59 »
Hi folks.
I need to replace the wishbones and have sourced lemforder parts as you advise and I have read the how to guide. The thing is I would find some photos of the process really helpful if anyone has any. Maybe one of you guys might be doing the job in the near future(weather permitting) and could record the process. Many thanks.

I did this job using the guide. Getting the rods back in can be fiddly and they must be correctly positioned. Make sure you take plenty of photos as you go to help with reassembly. It takes time and patience.

Sorry folks need to clarify my request. when I say plenum I am refering to the nasty plastic thing that covers the wiper mech etc. I have tested it sits right and the screen seal is secure but it just seems to allow water into engine bay by design. help please.

Just found Vauxcentre online based in Romford. Anyone had experience. They are selling genuine Bosch new parts for £80 a side. Half the price of the best dealer.

Omega General Help / 2.6 coi; packs
« on: 22 August 2013, 20:20:49 »
Hi all. Urgent advice needed.
Had a misfire problem and did the pedal trick. Random misfire and coil 4 came up.
Took them out today and had a good look round. 1 3 5 bank showed signs of wear and small cracks. 2 4 6 was a right mess. fell apart when I removed it. Best price I can see is on the bay £150 each side. Any suggestion for a better source of Bosch replacements would be good.
The real question though is this. The source of the problem seems to be water dropping from plenum onto coil packs. I water tested the areas and was shocked to see drops of water coming from plenum area. Has anyone had this and found a fix which sets the plenum up proper but at the same time stops water ingress.
Any pointers greatly appreciated.
Ps the how to on removing the coils is superb especially the tip of using the plenum bolts to pull them out.

Thanks to all for the first rate advice and especially for the excellent V6 alternator replacement guide. Removed the alternator and yes it was the regulator. All fixed and running again. Until next time!  Thanks guys.

Pease help.
I have a 2.6 and this week(very hot by the way) it has let me down twice as follows. After a short run I parked up and the cabattery was flat. Jumped it and all ok. Got home fully charged the battery. Went for a test run and the alternator/battery light came on followed by all the other lights(abs air bag etc) The speedo and tacho dials all went crazy. Limped home and turned off. Completely flat. Re charged and it started. Sfter a couple of minutes running the lights started to come on again and the battery was again flat.
I have recharged again and checked the voltage. I am getting around 12.5. When running it is giving close to 14v.
Before anyone points to the power sounder it has already been removed.
What could cause such a quick discharge of a fully charged battery.
Is there any way a component could be drawing excess current and how would i check.
Any pointers greatly appreciated.

Hi definitely get it checked with dye. My v6 had a slow leak and it turned out to be on the bend of the high pressure pipe-the one that runs along the chassis leg and a real b**** to replace.

Omega General Help / Re: Rear Brake Pads
« on: 29 May 2013, 14:20:01 »
Thanks for all the advice.
Did the pads today as it was a nice day for once.
I would strongly advise the use of a proper punch to remove the pins and not a nail.
However both of the springs were missing! Is it vital they are fitted and what is there function. I will get a set as the pins were very rusty anyway but until I do can someone advise.
Thanks

Hi all. Need some advice please.
my rear pads need replacing and having had a look the retaining pins that hold the pads in are fairly rusty. Are these reusable or are they suposed to be replaced at same time.
Also is is best to stick with vauxhall pads or can someone recommend an alternative.
Thanks in advance.

Omega Electrical and Audio Help / Re: Heater Motor Fan Condition
« on: 02 March 2013, 22:34:27 »
The speed controller was replaced after the usual scuttle drain problem did for it. I replaced it with a genuine and very expensive vauxhall part. Thinking I might have had a faulty one I had the dealer excange it and the problem persists. They chacked the motor using Tech 2 and said the motor was at fault.

Omega Electrical and Audio Help / Heater Motor Fan Condition
« on: 02 March 2013, 21:45:20 »
Hi Guys. Just spent the afternoon stripping out the heater motor and now I need the some help. Thanks to Jimbob for the t glove box removal 'how to' and also Welung666 for the motor removal 'how to'. Both invaluable. I have an intermittent fault whereby the motor stops working. It will run off a 12v supply but intermittantly when the supply comes from the speed controller( which has been replaced also) I read somewhere that if the motor is on its way out it can draw to much current and the speed controller cant cope. Having now got it on my table I am at a loss to know what to do. The fan seems to rotate freely and all looks well. The question is ?  what should I look for. Any pointers would be much appreciated. What sort of gap would you expect between the rotating bit and the magnet?
Also whilst moving the loom I came across a taped up connector with half a dozen or so wires going into it and running alongside the main loom and goes behind the switches. Anyone know what its for. The car is a 2002 v6cdx by the way.
Thanks in advance.

Thanks for that kevin. Well it has worked for a few days and again this morning nothing. So pulled the fuse as you suggested but still no fan. Checked connectors and they are fine. I will remove the connectors whilst fuse out and reconnect and see what happens. Any further ideas much appreciated. Thanks

Omega Electrical and Audio Help / problems with my speed controller
« on: 19 January 2013, 18:16:44 »
I recently replaced the speed controller from VX after a scuttle drain blockage did for it. All was well but after a few days the fan stopped working. I have removed the glove box and tested the fan. it is ok. Strange thing though is when I reconnect speed controller it all works again. Leave it for a few days and it stops working. Has anyone had an intermittent problem with the speed controller. I am told the only way to check the thing is with the appropriate vx diagnostics?
 Any help much appreciated.

Omega Electrical and Audio Help / Re: Heater fan no action
« on: 09 January 2013, 17:31:20 »
Thanks. Will do. I guess it is the two wires that come from the speed controller. Do I need to disconnect the fan motor from the speed controller. Or can I simply attach a live feed to the red terminal.
Thanks again
