Hi,
As all the other chaps have said. codes must be read first. I have had exactly the same issue on my DTI (aswell as other members).
It could be something as simple as an old EGR valve (loosing it's ability to pull the plunger up) or a leak in the small rubber vacuum pipes around the EGR valve and the vacuum pump which sits at the back of the engine.
Don't let it get you down, it will be fixable or drive round 'able' in the short term.

or two on the dash and nothing either. Could it be a loose wire then, if it came on and then went off just as quick?
, radio works and from doing a search on the previous MID threads on here I can't seem to work out what the issue is. Isn't the fuse as according to the handbook they share the same fuse (20A) and as confirmed the radio works.
