Omega Electrical and Audio Help / Re: Rear light issue
« on: 11 August 2009, 18:56:23 »
Well I put a new Bosch bulb in on Saturday, and so far so good - hopefully sorted, thanks everyone! I had no idea a bulb could be defective in that sort of way.

Got a feeling its not the bulb, because I had my MOT last November and they changed the bulb but when I got the car back, the light wasn't working and taking the cluster out and putting it back sorted it for a few months. I will change it today though just to rule it out!

Omega Electrical and Audio Help / Rear light issue
« on: 05 August 2009, 11:44:10 »
I have a problem with my driver's side rear light. Every time I turn my lights on it doesn't work, so I open up the area where the lights are and as soon as I unclip the cluster of bulbs it lights up. I then put it back in and it still works fine until next time I get in the car and turn the lights on. This seems to be happening every time I use the car now! Any ideas as to what I can do?

Omega General Help / No heat
« on: 09 January 2010, 11:56:38 »
Haven't had heating in the car for about 18 months now, wasn't so much of an issue until this winter! I've looked at other topics and what I've just tried is to block off the vac pipe to the HBV. I did this and it made no difference. What does that mean?
I've also just worked out that if I have the setting on Hi I do get a little heat but only from the vents in the centre, just cold ish air from the side ones and the one for the back seats.

Omega General Help / Coolant and heater problem
« on: 02 October 2009, 14:39:45 »
Hello, I'm having a few issues and someone said they may be related to a problem with the heater matrix?

1. Don't get any heat from the heaters and it's getting colder now!
2. If I haven't got the aircon on, the car mists up easily - the scuttles are clear.
3. I seem to have lost a fair bit of coolant recently.
Yesterday morning I could smell coolant inside the car but couldn't smell it in the engine bay, can't see any leaks, holes or damp areas though.

I don't actually know what a heater matrix is though, I don't know where it is and I therefore don't know what I could do about it!
Cheers!

Omega General Help / Re: Headlight problem
« on: 02 October 2009, 09:32:13 »
It was the fuse  :-[ cheers!
Strange thing is though, when the fuse had gone one of the bulbs behind the dash was working. I put a new fuse in and the headlight works and the dash bulb won't light again. When I take the fuse out the dash bulb works again!
Looks like I have to choose between the two - think I'll stick to the headlight...

They're the normal lights - poverty spec GLS! Will a fuse only affect one side? I'll check them anyway.
Pete - wher is the earth wire and how would I check it?  :-[

Omega General Help / Headlight problem
« on: 30 September 2009, 18:54:32 »
Hello, my headlight bulb went the other day so I changed it, this worked for 2 days then went again so I bought another today and it won't work at all. I swapped the bulbs round and the second "dead" bulb worked fine in the other side so it's not a bulb issue. Does anyone know how to start trying to fix this? All the connections and wires look fine from what I can see....

Omega General Help / Re: Auto box playing up sometimes
« on: 17 August 2009, 22:43:50 »
Mine does the same, especially when cold and pulling away first thing. I press the sport button which will then put it back into gear with a thump. I took the car to Sassanach of this forum about a year and a half ago, who very kindly helped me out. He took the box out and the thrust washer was fine. We put the box back on and refilled it (after trying another gearbox which didn't work) which cured it for about a year - the problem is coming back again now though...

Omega General Help / Re: MY AUTO ROLLS ON HILLS
« on: 26 July 2009, 15:11:36 »
Mine rolls back too on the steeper hills, it concerned me at first as this didn't happen with a Mitsubishi Colt I had or my girlfriend's 23 year old BMW 320 she had at the time. I'm just used to it now  :y

Omega General Help / Re: Starting Issues
« on: 23 March 2009, 11:17:53 »
Happened again this morning - it only happens when I need to go to work! I looked through my old posts and it does seem to be behaving the same way as when my crank sensor last went (Although I had codes last time and it wouldn't ever start back then)
Has anyone ever had the crank sensor go and noticed that it was only in the mornings when it wouldn't start?!

My crank sensor went about 18 months ago and on that occasion it wasn't turning over which it is now and I was also getting fault codes. could it really be that this time?

Ah I probably didn't explain myself properly, I don't get any codes at all apart from the 31 which I believe you get anyway when the engine isn't running.
Anyway, I have had the same problem this morning and the car won't start. The one thing that seems to link these two incidents is that both times I have put petrol in quite late the night before. Any ideas?
