Omega General Help / Re: Remote Key fob
« on: 26 July 2007, 19:56:30 »
the fobs arnt that expensive about 35 - 40 quid if its prefacelift it the money they sting you for plugging it in to there tech 2 and doing the recode for the alarm, mine had a faulty fob so i got it replaced and they tries to charged me 1 hours labour at £90 even though they had the car in the shop for 15 mins until i kicked up a stink and demanded to speak to the service manager, ended up paying for 30 mins labour so it came to £90 including vat, you could try and find an independant garage or im sure some one on here or the vauxhall owners site may be able to sort it out if you supply the fob

Hi there,
I have noticed lately that the windscreen mists up more than usual, this weather is not helping I know but it gets worse then I put the fans on full to demist for about a minuet then starts to clear very slowly. I have cleaned out the scuttle drain, and I don’t think that I am loosing any coolant. I have been doing other jobs, e.g. cam cover gasket to stop a leak at the back, but now I have a leak at the front, Bo#*@cks. Been out in this rain so long I think I’m growing fins.
Thanks
Lyn.

I have cleaned out the scuttle drain

Hi

Mine is blocked and I am getting bucketsful of water in the passengers footwell (front and back) I have tried to reach in but can't ge to the bottom - how did you clean it out?

Thanks
i used a wet and dry vacum cleaner then pushed one side of the plug out at the bottom of the of the cavity and not had any problems since, i used a lond flat head screwdriver and just gave it a bit of force

Is the Acetone treatment safe for use in Diesels as well?
IW
yes it works on diesels too just dont tell the chemist that your putting it in your fuel i got some funny looks and some drawn in breaths when i told him but now he uses it in his merc and has commented on how much better his car feels

you could try putting some acertone(needs to be 100% not nail varnish remover) in it, its £2 for 500 ml from any good chemist and you want to add 1-2ml per litre of fuel start with the higher strenth for the 1st few tanks then drop to the lower strength, ive been using it in my omega and my motorbike for the last 6 months and its great better mpg, lower emmissons (measeured at the last mot with and without) and the engine is very quite on both car and bike, i stripped down the throttle body on the omega a few weeks ago and its clean as a whistle where as before using it it was cacked in crap

sounds very much like the problems i was having heres what i done, replaced the water pump, cam belt, put 50/50 vauxhall coolant in, replaced hbv, replaced the two temp switches in the rad and had the exhaust manifold gaskets replaced, cleaned and replaced breathers, cleaned the icv, cleaned the throttle body, done the cam box gasket, and changed oil/filter plugs air filter, all parts have been oe equipment and most where brought from autovaux with the exeption of the hbv and the cam cover gasket  not all at the same time over the last 4 mounths this has been completed and now when normal driving the temp is running between 90-92 and when stop start driving the temp will rise very slowly to about 95-97 and the fans will cut in and bring the temp down very quickly to 92 also with combined driving the mpg is showing 26.5 mpg and the car feels stronger, smoother and generaly nicer to drive, it has cost me a fair bit but i have a very good friend that owns his own garage so the labour cost has been a fraction of the cost but i have helped him and im confident in doing all the work again myself, i know alot of these are not related to the problem but they have been done so im keeping the car even though the wife wants a tdi golf

Omega General Help / Re: ICV 2.0 facelift.
« on: 25 June 2007, 13:13:34 »
i have the older 2 ltr and i had the same problem with my throttle linkage, i removed the 4 nuts holding the throttle body on and lifted the body carefully out the way leaving all pipes and cables attached, then i removed the small part that the small pipe goes to on the throttle body with a 19 mm spanner, it can be very fidly as there are 2 copper washer on this part, then when you put it back together just make sure there is no fuel leaks from the fuel feed pipe
hope this helps
