I can buy a gazebo that will keep the rain off.  I have a private driveway so the car won't be in the street.

I will make food for you all! :y

I got the K Seal today. Should I put it in or wait?

I bet you are all sick of hearing from me!

Kate, i would hold up on the k seal for the time being, as it can cause more probs than it is worth, terrible stuff, used it once, never again, blocked the rad solid on my mk 2 escort but did not seal the small hole in the plastic tank. ::)

Just a thought. How about, rather than shifting 2 tons of car about, could we not attack it at its current location, diagnose the fault, and maybe take off the heads if they needed rework, and ship them somewhere else?. A lot cheaper shippng heads than a Mig.

Hey this could be a first for OOF, why not a couple of guys could go up, and someone use a vid cam, and if we could live link it to the forum, then we would have the benefit of guys like Mark, Timbuk etc who can give their diagnosis on line, and the workers can act accordingly. I'm sure I could remove/refit a V6v head easily enough (with a little bit of help !).

I have experimented with a camcorder plugged into a laptop, so with a little bit of work/ advice could provide the video side of things, if there was suitable internet link at the house in question. This would be a first, car repair via video link !.

OOF lead the way in Car repairs  :y :y :y

Comments ?

Hi Ken. Great minds think alike, see reply 108. If i was any sort of mechanic i'd shoot up to Sunderland & fix it but i'm not. I understand it's a long day with travelling for those who can fix it but it's probably cheaper for Kate.
Shall i phone my mate with the Disco & cancel Sunday? He's at a Wedding :( do Sat night so i'd have had to stay sober to drive next day & at least i still get a lay in!!!!
Some one let me know please??????????

Hi AmigoV6,
Yes, I kind of added to your idea with using web cams/the internet to mean that local people could do the job with access to technical backup. I have changed a few cylinder heads in the past, but it would make sense to have someone as knowledgable as MDTM handy; if not there, at the end of a laptop screen giving helpful hints like what size hammer to use. ;D

OK guys, anyone fancy coming up/down to fix Kate's car ?. I will be there with a reasonable selection of tools, and will check up and try and obtain anything special we need. I feel it might be better to do it as a 2 day thing, one day to fully investigate and work out what's gone, poss remove the head (s?) and get them skimmed (?), and obtain parts for the refit. Then at a later date go back and reassemble. While we have it stripped, it might be worthwhile doing the timming belt/tensioners depending on mileage.

Unfortunately I am tied up this Sat, but could start on Sun.

Any thoughts ?.

Oh no  he aint, it did not seal the  rad it certainly did not block his rad either. Underastand how it works and youll know it didnt.

All I can tell you is what i found when I used half a bottle on a 3l mig, and I have used numerous seals over the years, it works and is still working, in any event it is your call.
