Central locking failure and key problems - MFL 2.5TD
« on: 30 January 2012, 18:36:38 »

On my '99 MFL 2.5TD I suspect I have more than one problem.

1. Key 1 would not unlock car, and the red key indicator light stayed on. After some percussion adjustment the light went out and the key worked, however I swopped to using key 2 in case of further problems with this key. Can't see anything loose inside.

2. With Key 2, with a new battery, occasionally the central locking will not unlock, or at other times lock, not consistent. This one does not have a red light.

3. The driver's door solenoid has started to get 'lazy' or intermittent, even when the key(s) work(s) OK. I changed this about a year ago for one off here.

On another forum I read that the micro-switch in the solenoid is replaceable quite cheaply, has anyone done that on here?

I don't want to keep changing the solenoid, so may buy a new one if all else fails.

Does anyone know if Martin Imber is still doing keys? I see he was last on in November.
