sky is just a rip off in my opinion if i could get something else i would  >:( >:( >:( >:(

Sky is a business out to make money, its not public funded. You want it, pay for it!
Why didn't you tell us about sky go for android?  Smacky botty from uncle Rupe. ;D

Because any time I try and mention helpful things, it just turns into a slag fest of ihatesky.com
They are a very cleaver bunch aren't they Tunnie. Not only do they not even have sky, not only do they consequently not have access to the sky f1 channel, but the rather programmes and f1 season haven't even started yet, and they all know everything there is to now about sumat they don't have, cant see, and have a crystal ball to somehow predict the future event. Wow.

So who's going to win in Aus then? As we all know so much! ;D
if you want to know we been with sky for years and paying for it got all the programs just sky are allways wanting more money wont have hd again stopped the crap :y :y :y :y

Why is it crap Ralf, its clearly better (excuse the pun) going back to SD after HD, the picture looks blurry!

Also Sky has frozen current Sky subscriptions in early 2011, until 31st August 2012.

I think, Ralf, if petrol prices were frozen for 12 months you would not be complaining  ;)  ::)

BBC showing highlights of all races later that day, I've got virgin, we have to have sky sports 1 to 4 to get the F1 channel. Looks good from the ads they keep giving us, hopefully the channel will go 3D too. :y
you will have to pay extra for that as norm with sky :y :y :y

3D channel is free to all HD customers....
but you still have to pay for crap hd which i found no different than normal tv another sky rip off well thats my opinion :y :y :y :y :y

It is, its far superior resolution. News HD you can easily see from all extra graphics you get. Richard Attenborough stuff is stunning in HD. Skin/Face textures are much more defined, its not my fault most of you here are old farts and practically blind anyway  ;D

Yet again your saying its a rip off, we know! You've said it on every Sky related thread, change the record  ::)
it is freedom off speech you know i got my opinion about sky and you got yours  :y :y :y and its got nothing to do with age my eyes are good   :y :y :y

Then maybe you didn't have a HD enabled TV?

Whilst Sky's HD is not true 1080p - Its still 1080i it is better than SD

When I used to fix phones, the 'well to do' estates didn't have a dish on every house.  But the run-down community housing estates, where everyone was on benefits, all had Sky (Analogue back then) and big (CRT or rear projection) tellys.
That's because the residents of the run down estates had people like me charging them a mere £30 to have a "chat" with the card to enable a years worth of viewing on all channels  ;D

I'm watching Arsenal v Newcastle in HD now, the picture is fantastic. My only gripe would be that, unless you sit directly in front of the tv, it's not that different to SD. I realise that this is TV design, not sky.

I found football in hd gave the least improvement over sd. Although still miles better. I mostly don't watch anything other than HD now tbh. The SD picture annoys me.

Having said that, my Dad doesn't see the point in HD as his eyes are poor. No point.

While the Mrs quite happily watches the analogue sky Chanel on our tv, thinking it's on the HDMI input. When clearly, to me, it's not an HD picture at all. ::)

The tv we have (Samsung smart thingy) has got too many variables. There are so many adjustments for picture, sound, backlight etc., that you're always fiddling with it (whilst trying to get a good picture on the telly ;D ).
And once you've got it just right, you find that that's only for the hdmi...free-to-air is a different menu.... :o

You might find there are settings listed on the web. Although i also found that Samsung where just being lazy and leaving development to thier customers. But if you will buy cheap tv's what do you expect ? Where did you get it? In the Riots? ;D

We all know that, where Sky have an SD and HD channel, they purposely reduce the bandwidth on the SD one ::)

HD broadcasts are clearly better, although like DVD upscalers, some TVs do a reasonable job of upscaling SD.  My MCE does an A1 job upscaling (likes face it, it certainly has the processing power), and does make it difficult to tell SD and HD apart, but clearly there is more detail in the HD broadcast.  1080p films are better again.

But the only things, beyond action films, I want to see in HD are the Natural History programmes, and the BBC make the best. And the 2 BBC HD channels are free to air anyway.

I know what you mean, but these people wouldn't have had the brains to go to The Dark Lantern in town, to chat to the dodgy geezer at the bar called Big Winston (genuinely ;D), before he got banged up for years for dealing in something he really shouldn't have been...
