The outlet behind the dash appears to be Independent of the cabin vents. Hot or cold, fast or slow, it's output appeared unchanged during the brief test as we installed it.

I am having mine regassed tomorrow as it is not as cold as it should be , just in case we get any summer

Law of sod says save your money Lff. Historically, any attempt by myself to plan for summer, be it garden furniture, holidays, buying summer clothes, or fitting ac glove boxes, instantly dooms the rest of the year straight back into winter.
 That's it now. Go buy a snow shuvel

Ok, after a bit of time with this installed.... day to day, short journeys with average outside temps, the benefits are minimal. But on a longer journey, ESP in hot weather where ac and fan speeds will be working harder, there is greater cooling involved. It's never going to reach fridge temperatures, but it will make an otherwise warm tepid drink cooler and more pleasant than it was.
 Reading between the lines this option was available on the pre face lift, but dropped as an option on the face lift, I suspect due to the ncdc 2015 telematics being installed in the glove box, some customers, i suppose, might drop the more profitable phone option in favour of the ac glove box. I guess GM took the choice away on economic grounds.
 Obviously owners with ncdc2015 telematics in the glove box won't find this usefull, unless the telematics is re sighted and looms extended with help from Vxlv6 (Thanks Andy and TB for thier help with that) 

But there we are, a cheap and easy install generally speaking, and you never know, it might help the re sale value... Maybe.
