2.6 very reluctant to start.
« on: 16 July 2012, 19:13:22 »

Car was sat on the flat part of my drive last week when it ran out of petrol.Tipped approx 4 litres in and it started fine. I then moved it onto the sloping part of the drive and parked it there for several days, with the front facing up the drive.
Tried to start it again but it didnt want to know.Tipped another 5 litres in the tank, still nothing.
Tried again today, and as a last resort pushed the pedal to the floor and it burst into life.Ran nicely at almmost full throttle, but rough as hell on a light throttle.Cut out after perhaps a minute of running like this and wont start again no matter what I try.
I took the petrol feed pipe off and turned it over, lots of petrol spurting out.
Plugged O****  in, no codes showing.
All ideas welcome.Tia.

Not yet, although I know they are in good condition, but havent actually checked for a spark yet.Thing is it did start briefly,so if its a HT problem, its intermittent to some degree. :-\

You break yours and I,ll break mine. :P ;D

Its a bit of a strange problem though.I have a feeling its connected to running out of petrol, but it has me stumped at the moment. :(

Almost sounds like you've got an airlock somewhere...  :-\

Have you still got it packed on the slope?  I think I'd want to try it on level ground or, preferable, pointing downhill, just to rule it out.

If theres an airlock its in the injector rail,if thats possible ?  :-\
Ive jacked it up at the back (trolley jack under the towbar) so its now sitting almost level. It has always ran as sweet as a nut since I did all the work on it,until now. :(

I wonder if it's worth trying the pressure relief valve on the injector rail.  I think you need to remove the plenum to get to it though.  :-\

I think that just means there are no codes stored.  I'd need to check the guide to be 100% though...

...just checked, I was right!  :y
