......The one you have in the garage may be of interest though??.... .....

It leaks  ;) ;) I just couldn't bring myself to chuck what seems to be a well built item. I'd intended to donate it to Vauxhall for their exchange plan.  :y

I'm sure someone posted a link to a rebuild guide for these air con compressors a while back.. Didn't look too challenging on the face of it. Not sure if it was here or the ABS forum. :-\

I doubt there were any changes to the air con compressor over the life of the Omega although I can't check currently. It's a fairly generic Harrison part used over a wide range of vehicles.

Incidentally, this prompted me to look for the guide I saw to overhauling these compressors. I think this is it:

Kits of seals are available on e-bay fairly cheap. Might be worth a go at refurbing one?

Almost all compressors are serviceable. To be fair vx ones are harder than other makes. When we are talking about compatibility - I had faulty compressor on my old Omega which is 2.0 8v c20ne made in 1995 and i used compressor from 2.2 16v ecotec FL omega made in 2001. There was a difference - instead of hexagonal bolt for pipe attachment they use alan key  ;D .

Hope this helps
