A guy at the gliding club used to run one of those. He used to import gliders from Germany as a sideline. Apparently he had a bit of a rush to catch the ferry one time and discovered to his shock that it will tow a glider trailer on the autobahn at 120 MPH without batting an eyelid, and that the combination was still completely stable. :o

Fuel economy wasn't too great when doing that, of course. ;D

Fuel economy in those wasn't too clever generally, unless the engine was off ;D

Kes  :'(

Watched that again for the first time in about 35 years.

Not my normal type of film, much prefair something with mindless violence, fast car chases or totally sick and twisted humour but absolutely brilliant all the same and thought provoking  :)

Not that im a total neanderthal  ;D, its just that tend to sit down and watch a film after i've had a few beers and to be honest, I tend to fall asleep after a beer unless the film is very fast paced  ::)

If i've got to pick a few

Monty python
Blazeing saddles
Ronin
Green mile
Team america
Borat
Blackadder

Ronin - A fantastic film with genre-changing driving scenes, but not sure its a film that I'd class as "special". But still brilliant. That doesn't make sense, does it? I know what I mean ;D

Shawshank - whoever said that, yes, a good film that is always a talking point after it

Schindlers List - I think gayboy said that, a quite emotional film, made even more hard hitting by being based on a true story. The very end is always a quiet moment to reflect.

Convoy - a must watch for any 1980s CB fan, but what happened to the ending?  Not sure it is anything "special", but like all the Smokey and the Bandit, and Any Which Way but Loose series, good, harmless entertainment.

I'm surprised nobody has mentioned Star Wars - you can tell Pinky isn't looking ;D.  The originals stand up well, esp the first. Newer 3 are naff, whole films to set up single set pieces. But the newer ones do have Natalie Portman in, so not all is lost!

I'm a bit of a Gweneth Paltrow fan. Nought to do with her looks, obviously ;D. Sliding Doors and Shallow Hal are 2 interesting films, if not particularly great in their own right.

Midnight Express
Mad Max 1
Crimson Tide
Hurt Locker (on surround sound)
Bullit
The Italian Job

Razzo, I'm surprised you wrote this film to the top of your list ??? :(

its definitely an anti-Turkish film..

"Negative criticisms focused mainly on its unfavorable portrayal of Turkish people. In Mary Lee Settle's 1991 book Turkish Reflections, she writes, "The Turks I saw in Lawrence of Arabia and Midnight Express were like cartoon caricatures, compared to the people I had known and lived among for three of the happiest years of my life."[6] When the Lights Go Down criticizes the film as well, saying, "This story could have happened in almost any country, but if Billy Hayes had planned to be arrested to get the maximum commercial benefit from it, where else could he get the advantages of a Turkish jail"

I've not seen it (I think).  A poor portrayel of a people/religion/kin does not necessarily make it a bad film, or at least a film not worthy of further discussion.

If that makes sense?  As said, if I have seen it, I don't remember it, but that just my age!
