Well the one I've got is a 2002 model, so no chance of selling the plate on as a vintage...  Still, it aint bad :)

bennetts have come up trumps so far on Insurance, £87 for TPFT which includes commuting to uni and back, and also keeping it locked in my grandads garage about 4 miles away (no room at ours yet), its bloody weird though the entire cost difference in everything from a Car to a Bike, given I'd class the bike as a higher risk!!!!

No scrappies round here though with bikes in, or I'm just too used to the ones with cars and not looked further...

For bike breakers, check MCN or, I think, Used Bike Guide./  Normally breakers, private and commercial, in there in case you need to get replacement plastic or similar at some stage.

Hopefully not, however!!

CG125 lacks the outright power of a similar 2 stroke in its power band, but is easier to ride, and far more reliable.  CG125 is a good starter, though I think you will quickly outgrow once you've got your DAS.

Practice the u-turns on the CG on full lock - the u-turn was the thing I struggled on on DAS, and faiiled first time around.

Thats one of the reasons I got the CG125, purely for doing practice on handling and other little bits, but even after the DAS, it will do for a while as a commuter bike.  May still keep it even when I get another, purely as a backup plan or something to share the mileage across.

I'll check out MCN now, see whats local!

Well, ended up getting a Honda CG125 instead of a Suzuki (was sold...)  Found a Caberg Justissimo GT which actually fits!!  £149 tho... and as I spent all my budget on the bike, it's going to be a few weeks till I can get the helmet, gloves and insurance...  Still :)

Bloody ache like a swine though today!  Left leg mainly, arms a bit, right leg a lil bit...  Worth it tho!

;D ;D I used to thrash them with my GP100

Similar size/weight bike to the Honda CG125, yet the honda has more power. Don't think you could thrash them... have enough trouble keeping pace  ;)

You haven't come across both - I used to know a nutter on a CG125 and I had no problem at all catching up and passing - as standard the GP was 12 bhp the CG was about 10, that said the GP picked up revs fast and was the fastest in its class. But with small bikes 1bhp is a lot.

After the porting and exhaust my GP was faster 2 up than the CG was 1 up ( they ran into the back of me on traffic after veing passed)

Best thing about a CG125 is that its a 4 stroke - so no dikkin about with 2 stroke mix.   ......and theres loads in the breakers if you happen to send it along the road.....   :y

I had one which was LFS944T (1978 vintage...) from which I sold the plate for a few hundred quid on its own.  Probably now sitting on a scrapped Porker 944T somewhere!   ;D

2 strokes of that age had oil injection

**Update**

Did on-road part of the CBT today, given the issues from Thursday with the van running into the back of one of the instructors...

Passed :)

Instructor said I did very well :) Was a bit nervous to begin with, as only used to being on the off-road section, and on a bike going 40mph+ at times was a bit daunting, but I soon got to grips with it all :)

My friend did his on-road part yesterday too and passed.  We both got evaluated aswell on how many lessons we will need before we're ready to pass on the DAS, friend was evaluated to 10 lessons, I was on 6, so finally beat him on something  ;D

Anyways...

Off to buy a helmet on Saturday, and get insurance too :) then I can ride this beast  ::)
