People having parties, celebrating a death, wishing it had happened years ago. That ira person saying how bad she was. And these people think they are normal decent people.

If it was there relative would they be acting and saying the same things ? would they like these things said about there relative ?

Interesting to hear Neil Kinnock comment on Thatcher/Scargill. He completely blamed scargill for playing straight into thatchers hands.

Nice one Pete Dunno about you but there seems to be a lot of selective memory on this thread,people remembering the 'good' things she supposedly brought about,and forgetting the the shite.But then in all honesty I never cared for her arrogance nor do I care for the present bunch of nancy boys who think that they can bully the people of this country the same way.

Bearing in mind that the country was on its knees,bankrupt,with hyper inflation,an international laughing stock,run by the unions and the chancellor had to go to the IMF with a begging bowl - what would have happened if she had lost the 1979 election and Labour had won it ?
Thats the question those who hated her need to answer.
My guess is that in 1985 a famous pop star in Africa would have organised a huge pop concert to raise money to send us food.

As for those despicable specimens holding street parties and popping champagne etc because of her death !!
If they had a shred of the most basic human decency they would refrain from doing it due to the extra pain and hurt it will inflict on her family,if for no other reason.

Agreed.

Margaret Thatcher was a conviction politician who was democratically elected three times. She was patriotic (something missing these days), she had class and commanded respect the world over. Today, with our spineless career politicians running the shop, the UK is a laughing stock.

People keep bring up the closure of the pits, but the miners were hoodwinked into the unrest by Scargill who, even to this day is, wandering around the country praising Lenin and Stalin. He basically gave the PM no avenue other than confrontation.

Those who openly celebrate her demise have no class...or even common decency. Scum, indeed

Is it mere coincidence, but was it not the same mentality of the union leaders; ie making unreasonable demands, forcing industries to slow down and inevitably be closed down, that has effectively created the current status quo of 'owt for nowt' or have I missed something

Apologies if not quite the right thread. But if strong leadership was forced to make tough decisions then, (and stand by them), with the reality of the severity of descisions implemented yesterday only just starting to hit home, then perhaps history is repeating itself

I can only hope that the powers that be have the same same strength of conviction that Baroness Thatcher had. It'll be a rough couple of years I think...
