and as for privatisation efficiency..

before national electric organization is privatised I was paying 1/3 of now..

before telecom organization is privatised I was paying nearly 1/5 of now including adsl( was slow I accept but now not far superior)..

before privatisation food prices (basic things like milk, meat, cheese), drinks was incomparably cheaper than now..

I can multiply the examples..  but more important than that , who puts that money in pocket.. not the nation, few sharks who works together with politicians >:(

Comparing Turkey and the UK simply doesn't work, Cem.

if Margaret Thatcher is accused for some reason and defended for the subject of economy than that subject is very closely related..  and if you do some search on those subjects, you will see that those interests costs big numbers..  :)  and I'm sure she was well aware of the situation as a pm..

where capitalist masters and their agenda are at work only magnitudes change Nick..

let me tell you how.. what happens if those masters accumulate their money at your banks and your market for some time.. simple things get easy, people get jobs, money flies here and there.. and govts are shown to be successful.. but what happens when they decide to leave one day.. ;)

these games are played everywhere including UK..

and simply blaming Thatcher pre and post govts and pms dont explain UKs economic problem really..

Lady Thatcher's government did a good job of driving down government debt, which was 43.6 per cent of Gross Domestic Product (GDP) in 1979, and 26.7 per cent in 1990.

That's a very selective statistic, here is the whole picture

Now look up unemployment figures under Thatcher's reign.

I thought we were looking at government debt during the period of Thatcher's administration. ??? Ergo, of course it is selective!

As for unemployment, yes it did hit a post-war high shortly after she took office, but declined thereafter as the UK got rid of the restrictive practices favoured by the Left.  :y

Thatcher was PM from 1979 to 1990. All I can see is a fall in debt/GDP during that period! ::) ::)
