It isn't a post on the rights and wrongs of gay or gay marriage.

The question I am really asking is has anyone actually thought out the implications. I find the concept of a dad marrying his son to avoid inheritance tax amusing but who knows what genuine pitfalls there will be down the line. It can be complicated enough now.

I just don't think it has been thought through.

I wonder if the incest laws would cover/stop that ? But yes does seem to be rushed through without enough thought and detail. I wonder if camoron will come out one day ?

Marriage is a union between man and woman and that is the way it should stay.
Its not something that a politician should interfere with.
Even if they feel it will win them some votes  >:(
If your gay then your gay.
I'm a pretty tolerant and open minded bloke like that.
At the end of the day, what peoples sexual preferences is is nothing to do with me.
If they want to show there feelings by entering a civil partnership then good on them and good luck too them BUT no government has any right to interfere with this.

All in my opinion  ;)

Totally agree mate  :y
To mine -and many others'-mind, the concept of marriage is about the partnership between a man and a woman. Gays already have a civil partnership which should both demonstrate their commitment as well as provide both parties with legal rights/responsibilities so why would they want to be "married"? It would then alter the very concept of marriage. PC madness again. Plus there are all these side issues such as recognition (or not) of a UK "marriage" or "civil partnership" abroad. I understand that pension rights was one of the differences that has been an issue but surely those in a civil partnership should have the same rights there as in a marriage. Theyre even talking about the introduction of civil partnerships for hetrosexual couples FFS just so the 2 options are open for all, which wont make one iota of difference to those many couples who may have lived together for years but never married, unless of course, they choose to take up the civil partnership option and whats the likelihood of that? Madness.

Marriage is the union between a man and a woman only......or at least should be. :y

However, gay marriage will soon become law, and I won't lose much sleep if a number of same sex couples decide to 'get hitched' :-\

That's life I'm afraid. ;)

Either call me dave is closet "well he did go to eton" or he's after the pink vote to stay as pm,because he done nowt to impress me,except make my wages buy less as i have to pay more indirect taxation.
The other question you have to ask is why, never seemed to bother the home teams before, but as others have said marriage is betwix a man and woman, maybe we need cromwell or henry vlll to decided.

As this subject has been raised, I will just say that personally I do not care what the Lesbian, Gay and Bisexual community get up to in their love life, no more than I do about heterosexuals in love.  Why should anyone get between two people who love each other in this World of so much hate.

We all should have the same rights, no matter how diverse somebodies life is.  God created that diversity and no man should cast judgement over those who are so called "different" from the rest.

Let them all marry or have a civil partnership, and like all organisations in the service industry, which the church is in within our democracy, they should accommodate such joining of two people in love.

Anything else is a hate crime in my book, as it discriminates against those who should be equal in our society and God's World, as Jesus preached.

Let it be.  Love not hate or discrimination. :y :y :y :y :y

I don't see a problem with gays marrying in a registry office but shouldn't the question of gay marriage in a church be down to the church and not the state.

lets face it there are Gay people and then there are Gay people.

You the people that are Gay happy with it , content with a civil partnership but would prefer the same rights as marriage and why not. They go about thier Gay life not making specticals of them selves or making a big thing about the fact they are Gay.

Then theres the look at me i am Gay lets make a big song a dance about it, grab as much attention as possible, dress outragiously anything just give me attention. But at the same time reject me so i can be discriminated, cast out from society

who are they really trying to please and what really is the point.

I dont go out in high heels, fake titties, lipstick and a cucumber sticking out my booty to grab attention ( well only every other saturday), to me those people are just fake and i would imagine make the majority of Gay people cringe.

good example was doing a job in a bank this young bloke would strut around announcing how Gay he was and how he was waiting for the man of his dreams to whisk him away, never been with a man and when questioned about sex , what suck a willie no way, bottom sex you got to be kidding, but i thought you were Gay and so into Men...gay attention seeker. Would over react to everything

Like Millwall i have gay friends ( we all go to the same clubs :-* :-*) and they are just normal people, yes one always seems to adopt a sort of femanine way ::) but they are just happy to mingle in with people and do not feel the need to attention seek Or would want a wedding to sensationalise thier relationship, same rights yes

If there is a rule or old tradition someone some where is trying to break it or change it, some things yes are outdated, others are just part of tradition. I am British but seriously wonder sometimes if I am actually living in Britain

All diverse people across the world for 1000's of years have some sort of marriage ceremony as a bond for a man and a woman. This was instigated by all societies as it provides the stability, commitment and best environment for bringing up children.

Marriage in this day and age with frequent divorces, still on average where there are children last long than living together. The absence of a father figure has a very damaging effect on child, especially boys, which as taxpayers and local communities through anti-social behaviour have to fund and put up with.

Personally, I don't care about what gays get up to as it doesn't affect me and I'm quite happy for them to show commitment with civil partnerships.

Personally,, I think marriage should stay as it should as a public bond between a man and a woman. It won't as Dithering Dave want to show how pro-EU he is by bending over for a Van Rumpuy pumpy royal roggering implementing the directive where all countries have to adopt same sex marriage laws by 2015. As it is a pending EU directive, there was never any chance that it would not become law at the first opportunity with all of the main parties obsessed with being pro-EU and putting minorities before the majority.

All of the possible perverted outcomes and can of worms same sex marriage opens in the Nottinghill scheme of things and the EU "ever closer union" means these problems are irrelevant.

If you are a white middle aged hetrosexual you only right these days in the UK are to work hard and pay lots of tax to keep the charlatans show on the road.  >:( >:( >:( >:( >:( >:( >:( >:( >:( >:( >:(
