Ooh nice one. :)

I know your busy Serek, but if you fancy proposing a date or two...? See if we can get something going that doesn't clash with other meets and most people can attend.

It will be good to meet up again :y

I have the plasma cutter, but why would you need one?
Surely you just need to drill a hole in each exhaust and weld the new boss in place?
Why make things harder than they need to be?

Here we go, happy is on. ;D

Because you can't drill the cats at the right angle, with cats in place, as the body is in the way. :)

If you can't drill the hole in place effectively, how likely are you to weld the boss in place properly? I have completely welded custom/modified exhausts on the car, but tacking them together on the car, and welding off the car makes for a much better result. That's using both Mig and gas; Tig is more trouble than it's worth on an exhaust

That is a serious, non piss-taking question, considering that the exhaust downpipes bolt in place.

After all, consider that I'm intending to remove the 4branch manifold on the Avenger's XE to just weld the lambda sensor boss in place to make a decent job of it.

Hence the "Guinee pig" volunteering of my car to see of its feasible. Nick. Come on keep up! ;D

Quite simple.

By cutting and welding in place it gets around the risk of sheered bolts on the cat to centre section joint and the challenge of getting the manifold to front pipe nuts off which on the 2.6/3.2 is a pain in the arse.

You can get a cutter in and a welder, getting a drill with hoel saw in is more of a challenge.

As for TIG.....you need more practice  ;D :y

It is possible though as I watched Daz do it on my 3.2 while I sat in the sun drinking coke!  ;D

I'm guessing the cat sections are going to be as hard as bullets too, so getting through them with a hole cutter will be tedious.

They are yes, the cutters do work but are somewhat disposable!

Hence the use of a plasma cutter.

My light is also now permanently on so a fix in near future would be great.
