V8 comes in several sizes from 4.7-6.2 litres in the Grand Cherokee

Regular Cherokee only came with the 4.0 straight six you mention, or a 2.5 four pot diseasel :y

They are a smidgen less unreliable than a Land Rover :-\

I beg to differ,my V8 disco has been much more reliable than my Grand Cherokee ever was.

Compared to what?,an Omega?,mine was more hands on than either and had done half the milage,there's good and bad in all things  :y

HBV 80k
Front Wishbone bushes 120-150k
Cam cover gaskets/breathers 80-120k
Coil packs 80-120k
Scuttle leaks 80-120k
Steering idler 120-150k

Nothing too strenuous there :y

Mileages assume genuine  :y poly bushes should last almost indefinitely  :y

My original MV6 wishbones were shot when I bought it at 88k. TBE's at 60k. Same with idlers....

They drink petrol in a different league, So I've been told, Plus 0-62 around the 10-11 second mark :o :-\

A 4.0 litre cherokee will keep an Omega honest to 60(around 8 secs) but your right about the fuel consumption :y

That's what AutoTrader say's  :-\, Parker's 9.2 Sec with 112mph top speed presuming its Auto and this type



These look better.



I have the second one in the photos but with the 2.7 Mercedes Turbo Diesel with matching Autobox, pretty quick if you want, just take the seasick pills if on a twisty country road..... :y :y

Used daily for work similar to a 2.2 Mig in fuel costs, comfy and high driving position suit me nicely, leather which I hate is only fault imo. Ignore TB off road comment, the Jeep is very competent off road and coped with floods and snow last winter extremely well.... :y :y

Thanks for comments good and bad  :y Looking for tow vehicle so something with a bit of grunt and capable of towing cars only . It wont be being slung into corners F1 style  ::) Fuel consumption not a problem as it will get LPG ... the car in question has been pulled for what ever reason but there are a few with lpg .. Im sure this one i was watching was a V8 and didnt know they did a straight 6 which seems to be the preferred engine . Whether its good enough to tow is another question but then there is the diesel lump to look at also  :-\
Maybe a different 4x4 would suit better for towing  ;)

Vectra wont have enough guts till its got 3.2 innit  ::) :P

But flatbed will come in handy for towing Omega's  :D ;D
