Unlock button over sensitive to fob shaking, or slightest of button pressing? How old are the switches?

Remember the curry house key meet? New since then, whenever that was...?

I have managed to press the button with the keys in my pocket. No hands.

You had the shit ones, curryman had the good ones?

Buttons where soldered on, now you mention it. Case was ebay. Dunno what buttons?

I think I got the sh1t ones (still going strong). Not sure what went in gixer's fob, but remember doing it at about the same time.

I only recall being generous enough to give 6 switches away. I thought 3 went in Mr Currymans vectra, and 3 went "somewhere else", not idea if that was Gixer or that Wood fella.

I remember using the cheap ones in mine, on the basis that I can soon swap them out if they fail. I did source some myself, though, so that's probably what went in Chris' fob.

Battery is pretty new.

Power sounder refurbed. (Master told me to bin it though. Lethal regardless )

Not aware of any issues with either. Holds charge well, starts strongly, even if lights or ignitiation or both are left on for a while.
No false Alarms.

To me its either unlocking itself, or is unlocking stealthily. Ie no indicators flashing.

The key has a good range on it, so its quite possible I wouldn't here the locks throw at that distance.


Plus, it only ever happens in car parks, never at home.

I've had such problems in supermarket car parks and at one particular golf club car park. Clearly these were due to outside electronic interference.

I often find it difficult to unlock the Omega in car parks. I'm guessing this is due to the fact that you often find TETRA base stations on the top of multi storey car parks and and other town centre buildings. The receiver in a car alarm is never going to be great, so give it a bit of interference and it needs a much stronger signal from the fob, i.e. standing right by the driver's door. Never had it unlock itself, though.

Might be worth unlearning the remote and reprogramming them via Tech 2? There might be a glitch in the learnt code storage in the alarm ECU?

Sticky drivers door solenoid - goes down with the remote (but not fully) and slowly pops up again later, enough to trigger central locking and unlock car?

More likely to be interferance as already mentioned, but at least its something you can check

Yep, could well be the solenoid as there is a microswitch inside which triggers the CL system for the rest of the doors. There's also one on the back of the manual lock barrel.

Chris, do you normally deadlock the doors or just a single press? Does this make any difference to whether it unlocks itself? Is the driver's door deadlocking properly?

Another question - if the doors unlock themselves, is the alarm still armed? i.e. does it go off if you open the door or is it disarmed - because only reception of a paired keyfob signal will disarm the alarm.

I tend to always dead lock it with two presses. I'm fairly sure it been deadlocked when I've found it unlocked, ESP in a public car park.

I've never noticed any oddities with locking this particular car. All the buttons appear to drop at the same time. No bouncing back up or double attempts to lock. Only problem I've had is being locked IN, where I've locked the car from inside when driving through a dodgy part of Slough, then once on the m4 I've tried to unlock to stop the right rear door pin rattling, and its refused. The drivers door knob was firmly down and refused to be pulled back up again. I had to open the window and put the key in the door which was extremely stiff.

Re the Alarm, I'm not sure. It's never gone off if I open the door, but I tend to lock and relock the car on return if I find it unlocked to a) make sure its still working to see did it respond to me locking it and b) check my sanity.

But I'll try to open the door next time, and see if the alarm goes off.

Oi, after 4 laps of the one way to find the same car park that you said you knew, you can take the blame.

But you might be excused, though, for confirming I definitely locked the car. (Which you did at the time iirc?)

Had the motor and mechanism out today. Thought I had another motor, then realised a certain admin had it.

But the mechanism had what seems to be quite a common fault, in that the central 4 prong plate was loose on its shaft. Big snack with a cold chisel and a hammer to tighten up the rivet on the shaft sorted the play, and i can now unlock the car via the door pin fro inside where I couldn't before.



Something is still not quite right, as the rest of the door pins occasionally don't lick with the drivers door. See how it goes for a day or two.
