Diesel Omega,I would guess mid thirties around town ? Xantia/306/cavalier/merc 190d etc on veg oil - depends on how you source it. If you get it free,as some people do,then pretty much infinite mpg.If you pay 50p per litre (which is the going rate for good quality oil), then 100mpg (equivalent) is a good estimate.
My Cavalier does 40mpg at 45p per litre. Its been worth its weight in gold to me,but its now very tatty cosmetically,so is going to be replaced by the Merc I bought yesterday.
If the Merc turns out to be a really good reliable example then the Omega will also be going next spring, and I wll save the cost of two lots of tax, ins,MOT etc.
P.S. If your buying a car to run on veg oil, make sure it has a Bosch pump. Other types of pumps usually aren't strong enough to pump veg oil.
