Without LPG, circumstances would dictate that I don't have 2 Omegas....

...however, there are pitfalls to LPG.

Ah, that's the advantage of fart-juice, it allows us to use our nice, big, comfy Omegas as daily runners, returning better running costs that that diesel Zafira of mine...

Fair enough, Whatever works best i guess.. I doubt LPG would be a viable option for me unless i knew for certain the car is 100% and would be keeping for 5+ years... Personally I don't think it makes sense to put LPG on a Omega with almost 200K that's not used daily... Regarding the Lexus, Sure I read somewhere Lexus in general are a pain to get LPG running correctly on a Lexus forum awhile ago, Could be wrong.

I like the 460, but nearly £13k is a shed load for a 7 year old posh Toyota! :P  ;)

Anyway, why were you cruising Autotrader at 03.46.36??  :o  ::)  ;D

I know nothing  ;D ...

Yeah 13k for a 7 year old may seem expensive and it is, But these big LS Lexus do have a good reputation overall for high milage reliability, Considering that LS460 was probably around 60k+ New is it expensive at 13k and dropping  :-\ .. The LS430 is probably better value for money at the moment mind.

You can buy a 7 year old Mercedes CLS 500 for £10,000..........original price almost £70,000. :y

I suggest that a CLS is easier on the eye than a Lexus, too. :y

I do like the look of the Mercedes CLS500  :y, I'm just not sure how reliable they are long term and possibly more expensive to maintain than a LS but then again its possible Mercedes parts are more readily available and cheaper, This would need looking into, Don't know anyone with such a car either tbh..... Few people i know who have owned Lexus cars they've been a reliable car for them anyway, One of which currently owns a LS430 on a "03" in a god awful colour but still a nice car he's had it coming up for 2 years I'm sure with 150,000 odd on the clock.. Think its the New Price Tag, Power, Reliability, Gadgets, Comfort, Refined.. That appeals mostly (when paying 4k+ on a car) Plus I do rather like the look of them LS430/LS460 (in a dark colour) :-X

...Seen as we seem to have moved over to LPG discussions, Any plans to LPG the V8 Merc Mr.Opti ?

Fitting lpg really requires a return in fuel saving that justifies the cost of conversion.

So it goes without saying that the car should have an appropriate number of miles left in it to see payback on the install, be mechanically sound, and that the owners is happy enough with the car to keep it long term.

There are certain marques I would NOT convert to lpg, anything ford or jag. Suspect some Range rover models.  Expect eml issues on any BMW.

Not aware of any Toyota issues though, personally. Doesn't mean there aren't any though. :-\

I believe that some 'dumb bastard' here at OOF owns a CLS 500.

His name eludes me at present. :)

I've owned the Lexus GS300 for going on 8 months now, and I can honestly say that it's the best car I've ever owned.
The MV6 estate was faster and had more boot room.
the shogun had more "street presence".
The transit was more economical, both to run, and maintain.

but...
fast enough to get out of trouble
noticeable enough to attract attention
cheap enough - just had to buy a rear brake bulb (second in 15 years according to service history - must be a duff batch  ::)  ), and 30 miles on a tenner round town.

there's not a spot of rust.
there's not (and never been) a hint of trouble from mechanical or electricals.

considering it's five years older than the MV6 when I bought it:
MV6
450 purchase
300 cambelt
400 clutch slave cylinder
50 ABS ecu
100(?) HBV

=1300 quid
that was in first 12 months at 10 yrs old

GS300:
750 purchase
-150 tax (to disabled)
60 ATF fluid
1.50 brake bulb
in first 8 months
at 15 years old
=660 quid

the only two problems - one fixable, the other, realistically not -
no rear wiper, which is fixable by fitting onr from a different car
not estate/no "pass thru" rear seats" - petrol tank is at back of rear seats, so BIG job to alter

I expect th ecar to last at least another 5 years - without any work. another 15 years+ with basic servicing  :o

Good to know  :y

They are definitely growing on me these Lexus LS430 not the 2001/2002 the mini facelift LS430 2003-2006 shape .... One day maybe, Definitely a future Omega replacement contender in my books...

Saying that I'm more than happy with Omega's for now though and if a low milage late 3.2 Elite popped up reasonably priced I'd probably buy it  ;)
