I've owned the Lexus GS300 for going on 8 months now, and I can honestly say that it's the best car I've ever owned.
The MV6 estate was faster and had more boot room.
the shogun had more "street presence".
The transit was more economical, both to run, and maintain.
but...
fast enough to get out of trouble
noticeable enough to attract attention
cheap enough - just had to buy a rear brake bulb (second in 15 years according to service history - must be a duff batch

), and 30 miles on a tenner round town.
there's not a spot of rust.
there's not (and never been) a hint of trouble from mechanical or electricals.
considering it's five years older than the MV6 when I bought it:
MV6
450 purchase
300 cambelt
400 clutch slave cylinder
50 ABS ecu
100(?) HBV
=1300 quid
that was in first 12 months at 10 yrs old
GS300:
750 purchase
-150 tax (to disabled)
60 ATF fluid
1.50 brake bulb
in first 8 months
at 15 years old
=660 quid
the only two problems - one fixable, the other, realistically not -
no rear wiper, which is fixable by fitting onr from a different car
not estate/no "pass thru" rear seats" - petrol tank is at back of rear seats, so BIG job to alter
I expect th ecar to last at least another 5 years - without any work. another 15 years+ with basic servicing
