22/11/1963 sat watching TV when a newsflash came on and before anything was said my cousin Barbara said " Kennedy's been shot" then they announced the fact that indeed JFK had been shot in Dallas. :'(

30/07/1966 Watching TV and when the forth goal went in I ran outside cheering and our neighbour asked "Who won" ;D ;D

9/11/2001 Was travelling down the M1 to pick SWMBO up from work when it was announced on RADIO 4 that there were reports of a light aircraft hitting one of the towers, sat in the pub watching it all unfold on TV as the second plane hit :o >:( :'(

I was at a B&B in Keswick when Diana died, I broke it to the man running it, he was so shocked it was unbeleivable.

Was at my normal work desk for 9/11  very strange atmosphere that day!

11/9 - At work in Beeston Nottingham, was walking throguh the Asic design teams office and one of them had BBC news on a small TV.
Death of Princess Di - Sore head, that I do recall.
Bradford City fire - I was also watching world of sport on TV, the speed at which is spread has always stayed with me

11/9/2001 - My 50th birthday so a day from work booked off to go out with the family that night. Son phoned from work and simply said ... "turn the TV on" and put the phone down. I don't think I moved from in front of the box all day, and the evening out just did not happen

27/5/1993 - XV193 Crash in Scotland - Driving up the M6 and had a phone call that started - "Ok. Thank God it's not you" .. from a relative who had heard about it on the radio.... not a good way to find out....   :( I was proud to be asked to be a pall bearer for the Flight Engineer who was a good friend.

30/01/2005 - XV179 shot down in Iraq - Engineer leader/Duty engineer on the squadron when the news came in, things got very messy, very fast ...

Odd the things you can't forget ....

9/11 being the only major event I can really recall - I was at work, the TV in our little reception area always had the news on and I walked past the window into reception to see the tower on fire.  Didn't get a lot done that day but did call my mum to say "Have you got the TV on?" .. didn't even cross my mind to wish her a happy birthday.

11th September I was going up to Northampton to see the guys fixing the curtain wall on the Sol Central, went into cafe over the road to get a drink and sort his application and they had news on.

Moon landing, my old man got me up and we both curled up on a few blankets in front of the gas fire to watch it on a old black and white tv.
Just remember my dad kept waking me up every time I fell asleep saying I had to watch it  ???
Didn't realise until 20 years or so later that I had seen it  ::)

Bradford City fire, watching it in the naafi bar at binbrook  :'(
Spent the night in the cells after I took offence to some vile little shit from Sheffield dancing around singing burn you bastards, burn  >:( >:( >:(
All charges disappeared when a couple of the coppers in there at the time "had a word" in the morning  ;)
To this day, my right elbow still clicks and cracks when I bend it where the little shit tried to take my head off with a pool que .............. put it this way, he lost  :-X ;)

Lady Diana, driving the missus to work on the morning. Couldn't understand why all the suicide music was being played.
Gobsmacked when the station DJ came over with the announcement.  Shit day that  :(

11/9 (English way)  ;)
Doing some electrical work in a bar in hull.
Had just sat down to drink a coffee and chat the manager up  when the live sky news feed on the TV came on showing the reel of the first plane to hit. Then it cut to a live feed just as the second one went in  :o
Stomach turned to ice because I knew it was going to kick off big style  :(

Hillsborough - on the way back to Liverpool from playing at a boys brigade concert in Blackpool, one very hushed coach journey with some very worried parents etc. I just remember the numbers getting bigger every few miles

9/11 - on a day off and just couldn't believe what I was seeing, like others I just phoned someone and said " Have you f'kin seen this "

Lee Rigby's murder- At a conference dinner in Brum, thought the ex squaddie fella next to me was taking the piss until I saw the seriousness in his eyes :'(

I remember thinking this is gonna be the start of world war 3. Scary days.
