Elite rear springs
« on: 17 August 2014, 15:02:44 »

My left rear SL spring is broken. Found it incidentally whilst changing tyres. Looking through previous posts Boge seem recommended, but are also discontinued? CP4L have these:

http://www.carparts4less.co.uk/cp4l/c/Vauxhall_Omega_3.2_2002/p/car-parts/suspension-and-steering/suspension/car-springs/?627720280&1&13acef40a80261820fb9b92bce923e11ee466923&1&000073

which are from the same parent company?

Other options include K-flex from BPB:

http://www.buypartsby.co.uk/buy/VAUXHALL/OMEGA/3.2/2002/__/102/steering-suspension/suspension/coil-springs/

Or perhaps old stock from this Amazon reseller:

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Boge-25-964-0-Coil-Spring/dp/B004CQO8M4

Need to get some and then get it sorted with the sort of mileage I do on the weekends. And I plan to change the pair, which seems to be the norm?

If you decide to go down the used route, Humbucker has some for sale in parts listings. Might be worth sending him a pm  :y

Just make sure they are for the Elite as they are softer than others because of the SL shocks.  :y

Any omega spring will work self levelling. (But not tother way round)

So you could fit the firmer and easier to find and more durable standard springs, unless you prefer the softer (jelly on a plate) Elite ride of course.

Each the their own if course but might open up a few options.

Yup, I dont mind standard springs. Given the Boge variants are no longer available, what would you recommend?

Mv6 lowered sports chassis all round ;D.     (Special order from Germany and possibly no longer available anyway)

Personally, I wouldn't touch any of that lot. So I certainly wouldn't recommend them to anyone else. So, Vx standard springs via trade club for you. But they are still very expensive, even with tc discount. Mv6 where £150 ish on tc last i looked for instance, and that was a while ago.

Ya pays your money....

Elite springs are very soft and quite thin at the ends. So used standard springs might not be such a gamble.

The Boge ones I had still visually look in excellent condition, zero rust on them. Only when adjusting handbrake I spotted the very last curl on one of them has snapped off, hoping they would last longer. They did 3 years, which I guess is not *too* bad, not brilliant though.

Hummmm what to get next  :-\

Is this on the 3.2 or the 2.2?

Ah, 2.2 I see, from another thread. Not the 3.2 running sl springs with standard shocks ::)

So, just to be make the point further, how long DID THE VAUXHALL ONES LAST.... ? :)

Does he now. ;D I's say he needs a 3.2 with self levelling and lpg donut tank then. ::)

Or a 3.0 estate with a donut tank ::)

Anywho, to answer your other question... 2001 car, had new springs three years ago, I make that ten years out of the genuine ones :y

Genuine aren't three times the cost, yet last over three times longer. That makes them better value for money than aftermarket ::)
