Very dangerous for me as mine's tucked in my sock  :o :o :o ;D ;D ;D

On a serious note i'll be taking all safety precautions. These things scare the living sh*te out of me  :-[

How do the discs attach? cos my biggest fear is not securing them properly, i press the go button and the thing spirals off slicing my head off and ending up in Wellingborough  :-[

Big flat nut in the middle which you do up with a special spanner that will come with the grinder

clamp a peice of angle in a vice or workmate, and practice cutting into it, you will soon gain confidence, dont use a cutting disc to grind with, most people keep 2 angry grinders handy to save swapping discs.
I use 3 one has a cup wire brush on.

I have never had one come loose - the nut tightens due to the direction of rotation. My biggest problem has always been undoing the nut again afterwards so I only do the nut up finger tight and save the peg spanner for undoing it.

Thanks for the info mate.

Can you use a rattle gun to buzz them off should they become too tight?

They won't be that tight!  ;)  :y
Better grinders have a means to lock the spindle ie push a peg in the side of the spindle. Cheaper grinders tend to come with a peg spanner for the top nut & a slim spanner to hold the nut/spindle under the disc

Not really, you need something to engage with the peg holes in the nut. The only time I have had real problems was with a 9" grinder I was using for cutting a mobile home chassis. The blade caught and stalled the grinder  several times when stresses in the frame closed up the cut. I used a rubber mallet to tap the nut spanner round when I couldn't shift it any other way.
(that grinder finally gave up on me last month by shedding the teeth in the gearbox - chances are that was a result of the abuse it got trying to get the nut off)

I had a cheap cutting disc from Lidl shatter on me once - never again will I scrimp on disc quality. Could have been a lot nastier than it was......
