Sad day in the vamps household today
« on: 04 November 2014, 22:47:13 »

Out old 'Fat Lab' was put to sleep, age 13 1/2 we have known for some time that the day was looming, but is still a hard decision to make, along side veterinary advice, she simply had little quality of life, poor balance, back legs kept giving way and a tumor on her thyroid....... :'( :'(

The decision was made yesterday but to allow various family members to say their good byes the deed was done today - no one wanted to come with me.

I remember when we bought her saying to swmbo that one day in the future we will have this to come, Miss Vamps was about 11 months old when we got her, Master Vamps was just 9.........................

RIP Turbo.................. :'( :'(

Sad news Mr Vamps.  :'(  Although I'm sure that Turbo had a happy life with the Vamps family.  :)

Always sad ...but it is something all pet owners have to face eventually .. no matter how hard we wish it .. they just don't live as long as we do..... A good but short life, and the minimum of suffering at the end is the best we can offer them.

13 1/2 is a damned good run for a Lab  :y :y

I know it's very easy to state the blindingly obvious, but do remember the good times. Even when you know it's the right decision, it's a horrible task to carry out. Clarkson summed it up when he said it's achingly sad when they die .......... & it is.  :'( :'( :'(
Chin up in the Flood house hold

I can still get upset when I think about taking Sophie to the vets for the last time last year.  :( :(

Thanks for the kind words peep's............. :y

She has been the perfect dog, as has the cat, for a family pet and we have only ever had good times with her, she used to love the Caravan (Static) in the summer and would spend hours down by, and in, the river with Master Vamps and his friends; everyone in our village knows who 'Turbo' is, it will soon filter through the village doggy world.......... :)

I have a tear in my eye so you must feel pretty awful. A good age for a Lab, we seem to lose ours between 10 and 11 and Bonzo is just over nine.
When Niblet went last year it was only a matter of days before the Labrador rescue were called, mainly because Bonzo was so out of sorts and went grey overnight. He was back to normal when Mocca arrived, so the family is complete again.
You have my deepest sympathy :'(

Sorry to hear the sad news...

We had to take our 3 year old Yorkie (Dave) to the vets a couple of years ago as he wasn't eating or drinking, turned out he had liver failure, needless to say he didn't come home with us... He'd already survived Parvo at 18 months old...

Sorry to hear this Vamps.  Although a difficult time for the family, it is an invaluable lessons for kids as they grow up.

That said, I have never found it easy when any of my dogs have passed. :'(

Chin up :)
