In that case it'd definitely be a stun gun for me then!    ...... and if I did find myself at the 'Pearly Gates' I'd just have to apologise and I'm sure whichever God was on duty at the time would be OK with that.    They're supposed to be forgiving and merciful aren't they?

Good grief. And I thought I was ranting. Agree totally though, the whole concept is obscene and, before someone tells me about their 'faith', I sincerely believe it's fear, not faith. Not fear of dying forever, fear of not belonging.

Sadly - without going all BNP/NF - if we allow en-masse a bunch of practices to go unchecked, for several decades, with literal millions of people who wish to do those practices then all of a sudden start saying "ooh, hang on - your religious practices are in conflict with ours, we're not keen. Can you stop, please?" well, sorry, but we have to, as it were, lump it. I'm in as much disagreement with religion and personally think Halal is sick, end of. I'm against it wholeheartedly. It's a mess that is difficult to clear up - because you're going to aggravate up to 16% of the voting public, and probably a vast number of lefty Middle class do-gooders, too 


As a whole with regards to religion I think the hate, and vicious xenophobia it brings fair outweighs the 'good' it alleges - as if those people who are 'good' are only 'good' because of religion and were it not for 'Religion' they would be out being cannibals and using stone tools. Really!?. Sorry, but being blackmailed into 'be good, or burn for eternity' it's not making you a good person, any more than me holding a gun to your head and saying 'say you believe in the Easter Bunny' - sure, you'll say anything, to avoid being shot - doesn't make you an actual believer in the Easter Bunny - you're just being threatened.

Not a discussion I was expecting on OOF, to be honest - but I'll stick my twopenneth in. Peace to all on this planet, and I'd respectfully ask the same peace back. Religion's just not for me  .
