Winter tyres, just on front?
« on: 14 October 2015, 18:47:58 »

HAHA my first tyre thread  ;D

Mrs Omegod does a fair old run to work which includes covers some untreated country roads, I'm considering throwing a couple of winter tyres on 2 spare rims I have for the front end of her Fiesta. Why not 4 ? I'm a tightarse and the rears are pretty much brand new  ;)

Any thoughts? is it worth the bother?

Im sure I saw a test on tv that 2 were worse than none for stability

Not sure on the logic as you would only put chains on 2....although that is normally only briefly

Rear needs as much grip as front, although for different reasons :y

Sideways, through some boxes, with a bad perm? Am I right?

Back follows the front, on a fiesta. If you make it stiffer at the rear, will help with lift off oversteer.
