With a remap 300 BHP and 400 pounds of torque....all through the front wheels though.
Nobody gives it a second glance .....which I like.
This - mine has been, probably only around the 280bhp mark but its got a shed load of torque over standard
I will acknowledge it is a bit of a nightmare in the wet for the TLGP even with an auto box
They don't all cost £500 a year RFL, mine is an 06 plate and costs the same as my 3.2 Omega, it doesn't drink silly amounts of fuel, in nearly 9k miles in the last 6 months its averaging 24.2mpg, bearing in mind mine is a daily driver and I drive in and out of London in a lot of stop start traffic, that to me is more than acceptable, be a girl and that could easily be nearer 27mpg.
Its very similar to sit in and drive to the Omega, but considerably quicker than the 3.2.
I previously had a 3.2 Signum and that was quicker than the Omega, same fuel economy but for the cost I would not bother just get the 2.8.
Same goes for the 2ltr turbo, 180ish bhp as standard is a little weedy for a car that weighs about 1600kg - depending on spec - hence why quite thirsty.
The 2.8 turbos are cheap because of the scare stories over Insignia and Vectra VXR 'chain stretch'. Its quite rare, and there is no correlation between age, millage, tuned or not and the problems - worse case scenario a set of chains and oil pump can be done for less than £1100 independently up to £2k from a Vauxhall dealer
Does put quite a smile on my face driving, it will give 330/ 335 BMWs, ST Focus, R32 Golfs a run for their money, and when de badged most people don't have a clue what it is
