brake pads
« on: 07 December 2015, 19:21:16 »

Brake pad warning light briefly appeared on read out today so thought its time to change them.  ::)
What make is best for 2.6 do they need to be genuine?

Pagid, genuine/TC or EBC Ultimax...

Probably in that order...

I would just say, be careful where you buy from. 'Fake Britain' the other morning showed fake pads being imported. They lack a laser mark evidently. Brake stopping tests showed an inferiority in the stopping distance, amongst other problems :y
I cannot remember if it was faking a particular make, or not. IIRC, the car they used was a Mondeo.
Being offered for sale from the usual outlet !!!

I hope on a facelift that light or message can only mean worn pads. On my 2000 2.5 it turned out to mean low brake fluid, in fact leaking clutch slave cylinder, seriously bad news.

Best budget option is TC pads or disc and pad kit if discs are required.

You could try Andy. I know he can't do delivery but worth a trip to collect?

For the price I wouldn't fit anything else. The TC pads are, however, a bit dusty.

Either that, or ECP sell fakes (which isn't beyond the realms of possibility, and wouldn't be the first time).

However, I suspect reality is that Pagid, like others, do good stuff and poor stuff, and the stuff you get through most places is the poor stuff.

Both MrsGK and I tend to drive like we have eight seconds to save the planet, the MV6 has TC pads on and theyre more than good enough for us.

By Omega standards anyway....
