Bit far from the coast for that mate
Not my point
For us to have a meaningful border will take time to establish. The Australian border is only effective because they 'acquired' an island to establish a processing plant. The only processing is to send people back from whence they came.
Antipodean immigration policy makes the US version look like a small kerb stone on the way to play the lottery (pun intended).
A prison/accommodation barge anchored five miles off South Foreland should suffice.
For a deterrent to be effective, it needs to be in place and enforced. Currently we are only able to 'rescue' people and give them humanitarian aid. Which is as it should be. However they way this is done is not, in itself, a deterrent, so still they come.
Scrape them out of the water, give them a blanket and a cup of tea, then take them to the barge. Make the barge as comfortable as a custody suite and send them back after a week. Start the scheme in late October, and within six months, see the numbers fall off a cliff.
