Yep, and some who seem to know these things predict that the total World population will hit 12 billion by 2050, or something like that

Thank! God I'll be dead well before then!

97 is not a massive age these days, Lizzie. We might still be posting on here, telling Jaime he should he should be settling down now he's 80.
Strangely enough, due to where we are run from and a waning appetite to keep proving what happened last time we tried one of these new ideas they come up with, my colleague and I were looking at retirement options.
Turns out we both need to work for longer. Bugger.
Depends what you want from your retirement. There's no need for a lot of dosh if you're too old to enjoy it.
My wife, after being moved from final salary to career average in 2016 will end up with a great pension when she's 67. But, if she wants to enjoy her retirement a bit earlier, say 63, she will still get a very reasonable pension and I might still be able to walk.
My problem is I was TUPEd out of BT to HP in 2004, so my Section C (yes, I'm that young

) was frozen then, so doesn't have many years in it. DC pensions since have not done very well due to the financial crisis, Brexit, and now Sniffle, to be followed by Brexit SNAFU.
My Sect C plus state pension should be enough to live on when I get the state pension at 67. I dont have enough in my DC pensions to live off until then.
Hence, no cigar yet
