The idiot in a Dodge ram pick up sounded terrific when it went out of our local petrol station, then the idiot accelerated past a horse rider a nice vehicle driven by a complete arsehole.

I was kneeling on the floor playing with our grandchildren when I felt a sharp short pain in my knee and the fluid swelling my knee joint. No big deal I thought, as it’s happened several times before, only this time a massive bruising appeared on the back of my knee and spread up my leg later in the day. It appears that I have a bleeding knee joint (Hemarthrosis) caused by being on blood thinners.  ::)
So, I’m pissed off as I have things to be getting on with, but I can’t as I have to keep my leg elevated.  >:(

I’ve had times over the past couple of years when I’d have welcomed that.   :y

The snivelling excuse of a parts bod at Mercedes Chichester.

Need a new pin for the OBD socket on the Proper car and as I was passing I thought I would pop in and ask. This particular individual has previously tried to make an issue out of buying parts, especially for retrofit stuff so I wasn't expecting much.

Anyhoo he has a rummage on his laptop and then says he can't find the parts in the EPC because he doesn't know where to start.

The Merc EPC doesn't always show you until you click on an item and read the description... Pins and plugs are simply a generic image, it's only when you click on them that they get identified. That said, the EPC does show the basics harness arrangement so if you know roughly where you're aiming you can find them easily enough.

I had a rummage when I got home and sure enough, first thing I clicked on was identified as Data Connection 16 pin X11/4 aka the OBD socket, and next to it on the diagram, the pins for it.

Suffice to say I won't bother going there again.

Rang them, spoke to a different person and gave him the part number. Two seconds later yup, contact spring, £3.48* each.

I confirmed that he wasn't the person I saw yesterday and suggested that he shows him how to use the EPC. >:D

His reply suggested that his colleague isn't very popular  :-X

I need six, so a second hand connector with pigtail at £16 seems like a reasonable alternative.

I assume that your MB dealers are the same as my 2 local dealers in that you can't get to look at a screen alongside the parts person. A while back I wanted some trim clips for my Smart .... the young lad had to print off pages from EPC & bring them to me .... needless to say he never brought the correct page .... I gave up. In the end I found an EPC on line & found what I needed withing minutes.

I buy alot of stuff from MB Newcastle via their eBay store, and they're pretty good at confirming any details either over the phone or via messages and their pricing is competitive.

Otherwise I generally use MB Guildford as I pass it on my commute and they'll happily let you see the screen if they get stuck or there's a choice of part.

Likewise used to use MB Gatwick for alot of parts for The Barge and the Alabamamumsybus.

It's a bit of a shame that this one person at Chichester is such a twarse as they're my nearest dealer. :-\
