........which will mean a bollocking for not attending the office enough times this week. Again.

Yeh I get that one regularly, fortunately i've decided i'm going deaf so I missed the bit in the last meeting about office attendance when not working on site and utilise any spare time watching YouTube videos on 'quiet quitting'.

Our place, doing 3 days in the office is more important than anything else, despite the lack of productivity of going in.  So I arrive around 7:15, sort emails and pointless scum type calls for 2-3hrs, then go for breakkie and "collaboration" in the canteen, come down, have a further chat with my mates, then go for a brew, then its lunchtime - which as there is SFA to do in Birmingham invariably means the pub - then wander back in office, have another brew, then catch the 15:10 train back.

But that's OK with the company, because I've been in, and "collaborated over the water cooler", not that any of our buildings have water coolers....

I NEED 2 screens to do my job.  Obviously they promised that as part of the move, but decided instead to give one medium size screen but with a 4k resolution.  So not only can I not do my job effectively due to only a single screen, but I can't read what is on the screen anyway.

Idiots.

You're obviously getting a decent paycheque at the end of the month, so bollòcks to them.

I am?  Obviously Personnel (I call HR that, as it pisses them off) think we are, hence on the rare occasions we do see a pay rise, its less than inflation.

I think you'd be staggered how little I bring home each month, after deductions ;).  It also shows this cost of living crisis is made up BS for anyone who works.

HR is now called People Services at my workplace, so thats the inclusive box ticked.

We too are told of the importance of water cooler moments, its just a shame that the water coolers haven't actually worked since Covid.

Which proves that the cost of living crisis is 'dangle berries'.

Incidentally, I've never paid a grand on a model aeroplane - my skilled ability to crash them makes that a daft idea ;D - you're probably mixed up a £4.5k drone.... ;)

And you must sit in training rooms - on the rare occasions you get any externally run training courses - and as everyone introduces themselves, feel you are the stoopid idiot of the class....   ...then by lunchtime have learnt they all talk a good job, but are pretty incompetent.

My management chain are a bit peeved I still visit all our sites to fix shit when it breaks - and with Cisco servers, that's all the time!  They can't grasp it's quicker, cheaper and easier just to fix the shit myself, rather than call in multiple teams to do various checks and then get the part sent to site, and then get it fixed.

.. which is exactly the process that has recently been employed on my 83 year old Mum's phone line, resulting in it being out of action for 10 days. The muppet from Kelly comms that Openbreach sent round was particularly useless, pronouncing the line to be broken, and that she'd need a couple of trees down, because they were interfering with it. All without noticing that some other f*ckwit had disconnected it in the cabinet and left the wires dangling. >:(

Too many sub contractors doing work for Openreach at the moment. Lots of shiny new vans with different company names appearing every couple of months.
