PayPal - yet again.

I send regular payments to someone and every now and again PP blocks me sending to them.

Other payments have been fine but just have a wait a while for the inconvenience to rest and allow payment. :-\
I am not a fan of Paypal.  Afterall, they have effectively sealed OOF's fate.

But as a responsible financial institution, they do have to check/hold/block suspicious payments.  Even Western Union do.

I fully understand that But they allow me to send maybe £2000 one day and then deny £100 the next day to the same person.  Bit random in the way software works.  Got there in the end.
That certainly sounds very finanically suspicious, and I would expect any financial body that is under regulation to flag that up.

Love how every one has their suspicions without knowing the actual facts.  All above board and legal due to setting up new business.  PayPal just the most convenient at times, My point was they allow a a large transaction to a person that's had sent to maybe 100 times, then deny a small transaction of $50

The actual facts are irrelevant, and nobody's business apart from yours, the recipient, and the financial institutions involved.  The nature and frequency of the transactions is suspicious.  And therefore, I believe PP did the right thing.

Like I say you all entitled to you own thoughts and suspicions, all legal with the Gov etc, just  glitch that happens every noe and again due to the way they they programmed the software.

not just Pay Pal. I tried to pay a bathroom fitter after he'd done our bathroom. I was on the phone to the bank for over half an hour convincing them I wasn't being scammed. How did we know him? How did we get his bank details? This despite the fact he'd already done our other bathroom though he was now working for himself rather than someone else.

Rules on banking by big brother have become a joke, seems they question everything, I tried to pay over £1000 into the bank and got the 3rd degree where I got it from.

You do you babes... But

It's just another flag, you ask for advice and only give vague snippets... And the snippets don't add up.

For example: I am starting a business and need a suitable vehicle...

- What type of business? As that directly affects the choices... ie a Fiesta Van isn't going to cut it if you need 8 seats...

Well, it might involve driving 4 hours on a motorway every weeks.

 ::)

I understand about being reticent, particularly with a new venture etc. but all the vagueries add up to alot of suspicion.

Well, financial institutions have to swallow the cost if a customer is scammed, and reimburse the customer unless it can be proved complete negligence.

So I repeat, given what you've said about the payments, PP did the right thing.  If you don't like PP, fine, I don't either - I think they are a right bunch of self-abusers - you are free to use other institutions for transferring money.  But any of the regulated ones would have raised a flag for that sort of transaction history.

You ask for advice, and people freely give it based on the information provided.

However, if you act on that advice and are doing something nefarious, those who gave that advice in good faith can indirectly become complicit in whatever you're up to.

Feel free to ask for advice, but is it that unreasonable for people* to raise questions so that if they chose to give that advice it's with transparency?

All you had to say about PP is that they've been irritating by way of their policies and left it there.

Likewise the business venture, "I need a vehicle that will do xyz? And am dithering between using the Omega or buying/leasing something newer. What do you guys recommend?

*Be that individuals or companies. If bunch of random car enthusiasts get suspicious then you don't need to be a genius to see how dodgy it might look to a regulated company.
