mechanical engineer :P
really that means i know how to turn(a bit) mill and grind things...
quite good at taking things apart using a spanner/socket set
not too bad at putting these things back together like engines
quite good on games consoles (perticularly driving games) not that it's a skill to be proud of in the real world :P

and i like digging holes for some reason!

Dont have access to a miller by any chance?

NVQ in parts operations with Land rover which means I know how Landies work but can't fix them to save me life.

This also means I work in a car dealer and get to see it from their side.  We're not all evil money grabbing people...   ...Well I'm not.

Like to think I'm a good photographer too though I've got a long way to go before I could go pro.

Spent nearly twenty years in a Bodyshop, panel beating, welding and spraying.

Only touch cars for a hobby these days.

Also a Bob Dylan and Aston Villa FC expert.

Don't seem to have any skills at the moment.  Out of work now for 4 months, soon be out of money, then out of home.

OK - I've been building large computer systems for large companies for 40 years.  But through a combination of circumstances, all the skills I had are now out of date - even if anyone needed a Fortran programmer, it's so long since I've done that, I probably couldn't remember anything about it.  Likewise C, Pascal and VAX/VMS.

I've just finished almost 5 years of logical design work on a major database using old versions of Oracle, and a not very popular CASE tool.  The design was so good that they didn't need to change it any more, so they made me redundant.  So I'm absolutely brilliant at transactional database design but I know sod all about Data Warehouses.  Guess what the market needs at the moment!

- Smattering of Java/J2EE
- Reasonable but not comprehensive PL/SQL
- Minimal DBA skills - building, tuning, sizing but not production
- Team leading, project management but no Prince 2
- Estimating, problem solving, application design
- Report writing, product evaluation

I really hope the national lottery comes up!

Bitter? Twisted? Depressed?  :( Of course I am!  :( :( :(

Transactional database design is a very important subject..

Nowadays most programmers even dont hear about it.

And so do the data warehousing.. But in last years everybody spend

their money for ready solutions..

But still I think you have the chance to get a decent job..Correct

time, correct place..dont give up.. :y
