nearly kicked out of vx!
« on: 07 April 2009, 17:41:35 »

i went to my local stealer yesterday to get a sump plug seal/ring, he was gone for a while & came back with one, i told him it didnt look right to me but he said they dont have a number for the ring only for sump plug with ring, so he gave me the o ring on its own [well 20p for it], anyhow started to do oil & filter change today & guess what,,,,,yup it was the wrong o ring, so back to vx i go in my other halfs car & told them again what i needed, he was gone ages then came back with a seal for a 1.9 [or so he said], totally different thing altogether, its like a washer with a rubber ring bonded into the hole, he says "thatll do ya mate" so i explained that is was somewhat a "prick in a bucket" fit, i was then told if i wanted the correct one i would have to buy 20!!, so not happy with that i said "so if i came in for a service youd bodge my motor with anything that came to hand" >:(, with that he got a bit stroppy & slapped this thing he came up with plus another rubber ring & walked off!, so ive had to use the 1.9 thing he gave me as i was stuffed otherwise, it is holding as far as i can see at the mo but this proves what everyone says that going to vx for a service could be a dangerous thing & not to be advised >:( >:(

I thought the o ring was part of the plug.....think it was on my 2.2, rubber part, with a magnet on the end of the oil end of the plug. Maybe that was on later omega's  :-/ :-/

I'm afraid that's been long superseded.  The customer is now a cow to be milked according to current best business practice. :'(

Ask your utility company if in doubt.

The way I look at it is, the customer isn't always right...but he/she is always the customer, and without customers...you don't have a business.

Sounds like a dowty seal - same as you'd use on a coolant bridge.

Anyway, they don't remove the sump plug to do oil changes these days - they stick a hose down the dip-stick pipe and suck the oil out!

2 different sizes fitted to tractor.  As said earlier, should get sump washer in oil filter pack (along with the rubber rings for filter itself)
