It constantly surprises (disappoints?) me that this is the ONLY forum of the 16 that I frequent where Admins dont discipline known trouble makers or rule breakers......

Its all warnings.......

If there is never examples shown of the ulitmate deterrent (bans) then there will ALWAYS be people deliberately breaking rules or antagonising other members to try and get their backs up.......

I can think of a few names straight away who this would apply to......!!!

Come on Admins, start to take control a bit...........???

 :y

Come on name names then, you know you want to!!! :)

Ass has been kicked (off in at least one case)before, and I,m sure it will be again if it is deemed necessary.Thing is,the admins dont like to run things like a primary school, they prefer not to constantly interfere. That of course depends on us having fun and banter in" the pub",without smashing beer bottles over each others heads,so to speak.

Oh dear, Oh dear, Oh dear  :'(....

What next? Are we going to stop all posts on the forum until a moderator has read it and approved it? Yes, I know that there’s no need for swearing for no real reason, but this is just getting daft, infact I cant believe I’m wasting my time typing this…. Anyway….

I have to agree with what Guy has said (at the beginning of this thread)

End of the day, were all adults on here (not that you would think it from time to time), and we all know that swearwords exist, and in the past I myself have used them to express my feeling towards something (normally repairing the Mig / PC or something of the like!)

I personally don’t see any problems in swearing, yes if your doing it all the time for no real reason, then again in my opinion your just an idiot with a limited vocabulary, simple as! But that said, where’s the harm in the odd ‘****ing this and that’ if you have had a bad day and paid out loads of hard cash to have something repaired? or had your car stolen or something?? Its all about painting the bigger picture, and sometimes swearwords are helpful in doing so. I don’t want to read plane boring text all day long. If I wanted to do that, I would go and buy news papers or something else dull like that!

And to say that this is a car forum were we essentially only talk about Omegas and Top Geary type questions is FAR FAR from the truth. If that was all that we talked about on here, I for one would be heading straight for the door  :(

If you read H21 first 2 postings on page 1,I think its clear that he wasnt trying to be draconian or nanny knows best, just asking people to be a bit more considerate to those (including children sometimes)who may be reading what you have written. ;)

In fact iirc he uses the word 'dangle berries' in the first post which indicates to me that no one is trying to turn it into a Sunday school. :y

Maybe its me reading things when i'm half asleep then?  ;D

Must admit, my post is a bit random, as when I started typing it out there was only 10 pages! I clicked on 'post' and it shot up to 17 somehow?  :o

And im not that slow at typing!  ;D

Oh dear, Oh dear, Oh dear  :'(....

mega snip...

You are missing the point a bit...

Agree we all can swear as and when and a wee vent on line has done most of us some good at some time.

Whats requested in my original post is that we do not go overboard and to keep a lid on things.

Admin/mods neither wish nor require to pre-read posts.  I used to use a forum where such a thing was done and it was like reading books in the library and trying to hold a converstation - unworkable....

Likewise, do not come across as overtly aggressive.

Type as you would want to be read by??

Sounds twee and really quite cack but its been a long day and simply trying to get the gist across.

I dont think that anyone wants to read posts that are overly nicey nicey and gushing in flowery prose but, at the same time, no one (I think) wants to read assorted smut and crap by those who insist on circumventing the swear filter by use of wild card letters and symbols nor inbdeed by being in your face aggressive in the content of their posts.
