Heh, I can't see the pics at work, but guessing it's some sort of Plod dressup.

Doesn't apply to you - obviously your little one left that there, but....

The amount of people who drive around on the motorway, with a hi-viz, either folded up on the parcel shelf, hanging on their seat, or similar, never ceases to amaze me.

Who would go to the trouble to neatly fold it up, put it on the shelf, in the most visible place..... they are nearly always clearly trying to trick people into thinking they're something they're not...

I personally never drive my own cars with any uniform on display, even directly after a shift - People see you, and drive at about 10mph, you never get anywhere!  :(

Remember it's holiday season. Hi-Vis jacket display is probably a ploy to stop the Eurotards from pulling them over when travelling on the continent, especially when accompanied by spare bulbs, fuses, warning triangle, first aid kit, etc...

Ok,

But under what grounds ....

My friend said to me once , " are you a coppa "

I really fancy the idea of a undercover look, with out braking any rules .

I think that is the problem with the british police force ... lots and lots of good ones but theres always a bad one too !!!

Suspicion of impersonating a police officer....

could argue that on the back is meant to look like a real helmet, and designed to alter other peoples driving style....

very tenuous, and you could obviously explain it easily, but could be enough for them to want to check you out.

fine and on your way......but if they had recorded the fact they asked you not to do it, and you got stopped a 2nd time, I guess you could be in trouble.

Put red stripes on it. And a blue light on top. And fit a two tone siren. :y

Oh, and big letters that say 'Police'.

......can't imagine why however if you were to attempt it then you might be breaking some rules - the two sections highlighted may apply......

Police Act 1996.

90.
Impersonation, etc.— (1) Any person who with intent to deceive impersonates a member of a police force or special constable, or makes any statement or does any act calculated falsely to suggest that he is such a member or constable, shall be guilty of an offence and liable on summary conviction to imprisonment for a term not exceeding six months or to a fine not exceeding level 5 on the standard scale, or to both.
(2) Any person who, not being a constable, wears any article of police uniform in circumstances where it gives him an appearance so nearly resembling that of a member of a police force as to be calculated to deceive shall be guilty of an offence and liable on summary conviction to a fine not exceeding level 3 on the standard scale.
(3) Any person who, not being a member of a police force or special constable, has in his possession any article of police uniform shall, unless he proves that he obtained possession of that article lawfully and has possession of it for a lawful purpose, be guilty of an offence and liable on summary conviction to a fine not exceeding level 1 on the standard scale.
(4) In this section—
(a)
article of police uniform” means any article of uniform or any distinctive badge or mark or document of identification usually issued to members of police forces or special constables, or anything having the appearance of such an article, badge, mark or document, [F1 (aa)
“member of a police force” includes a member of the British Transport Police Force,] and
(b)
“special constable” means a special constable appointed for a police area.

Under such circumstances it would warrant a 'pull' :y
