Doubting myself
« on: 13 December 2009, 19:08:29 »

Just come back from petrol station after putting in a minimal amount of fuel (my company has some scam/loophole for claiming VAT back on the milage I claim when I go to site, even though the customer pays 100% for it; I disagree with this, as its wrong, so they get one for the minimum delivery of 2l), and now I stink of diesel.

Now I know you have to be a numpty to stick diesel in a petrol car, and even more of a numpty to get a diesel nozzle in a modern petrol filler, but I'm doubting myself.  Even Mrs TB says I stink of diesel......

If it drove home without issue then its probably OK to drive back to the nearest (not the cheapest) garage and fill it properly and dilute it to the max...

I'm that convinced I'm not so daft as to misfuel, I will drive to Banbury in the morning ;).

People in Milton Keynes - an area well reknown for having more than its fair share of stupid people - have a special van that drives around to repair misfuelling.  Always see it at petrol stations there, helping out some idiot with a negative IQ

Receipt says UNLEADED. So assuming the incredibly astute, intelligent people at the local Brackley BP are clever enough to get the right fuel in the right tanks, I should be safe.

Thats a big IF!!

The smell of diesel might well be from your shoes ???  If some numpty has spilt some and not cleaned up ???  Diesel smell is strong and lingers, so if you've got it on your shoes/trousers it'll smell for a while ??
