Famous friends or friends of friends
« on: 13 February 2010, 09:41:32 »

Quite funny when you think about it.

A few of my NWOBHM friends have been in bands with well known musicians, even if they never got big.

My dads old boss had personal friends of Nigel Mansell and Marty Wilde. Mansell used to drive for the garage.

There are others but I bet a lot of other members can say the same.

I am distantly related to Dame Judi Dench (very distantly I might add) and I once had dinner with a guy called Kenneth Colley who was in the Star Wars movies (the original ones) as he is a very good friend of my uncles :y

I was once barged out of the way at an airport check-in desk, by a well known pugilistic Labour politician and his entourage......I even heard that 'old chestnut': "don`t you know who I am?" when I objected to my check-in being interrupted and I was then physically pushed aside by an aide.
.....a true legend in his own mind! ::)

I have no time for the famous (or the not-so famous) and their attitudes. >:(

Not related to but have friends who are friends with the likes of catherine zeta jones, Joanna Page.
I also went to college with a couple of people who were in eastenders.
If you want famous people I have met there is loads as I met them while working on cruise ships and when I was on TV

I used to go drinking with Shaun Ryder and Bez from the Happy Mondays as well.

I think my memory has tried to block that out ::) ::)

my other half had to accompany someone to hospital from the call centre she works at - turns out this guy was the lead singer in the group H2O in the 80's - found his hit single on youtube and played it a couple of times - brought back memories of a bygone era!!!!

Got a few of these...

I used to go drinking with Paul Waterman (RIP god bless him) - he introduced me to Manchester when I moved here and was a good mate of mine. Because of this I've also had a few pints with Pete Waterman too and done a bit of work in PWL studios In The North.

This is a bad one...I once DJed on stage with Take That during one of their early performances (they had only just charted then) - I am a dance music DJ and was uber embarrassed at the time. One to tell the grandkids though!

A few weeks ago I ended up having a ciggie and a chat with Badly Drawn Boy and one of Shane Meadows' actresses (The mum out of This Is England, I forget her name now) after they came and joined me outside a gig at Ruby Lounge in Manchester.

One of my old mates Charlotte was the little girl on the old Royal Mail tv ad where the girls looking out for her birthday cards from the postie..one for the oldies there!

There's a few more but it would get really boring!  ;D
