I'd take the money, then spend the bills slowly in lots of random shops, just in case they were being tracked.  :)

An educated guess... ;) :-X and even if it were stolen if the numbers were not known how could it be linkedto a crime..  found a trail of £1 notes in the mid 70's, up an alley, near to an iffy car dealer, about 7 iirc and must have been dropped and blown in the alley by the wind, kept them but felt really guilty. I consoled myself by believing they belonged to the cowboy trader
