I know exactly how Lee feels.  I have stayed away over the last few months since I felt the forum had become somewhat unwelcoming. Each time I have peeked back for a look see I have discovered the situation getting worse.

Yes, OOF started "life" as an Omega (not car) forum -- then it grew into a community -- something more than a car forum. When exactly this went belly up I cannot say -- but the sense of community has well and truly died . I notice that many of the earlier, active, "community minded" members have fallen silent, some have even left entirely.

I no longer have my Omega, but stayed on here for the company of friends I had made ---- this no longer seems worthwhile, so I, too, shall again fall silent.

I wish you all well in whatever you do and wherever your endeavours take you. Drive safely and may whatever you believe in bring you comfort.

I know some here will deride this last comment ... May your God go with you.

I dont think it has changed all that much to be honest.

There are bound to be things that provoke heated responses, but thats life....

To leave any forum is a personal decision, and those who go will, I am sure, be missed.

But life here will go on........

 :y

I must, I'm afraid, strongly disagree with you here ... I've been around the forum a while .. not as long as some .. but longer than many...

When I first joined there was never a need for a "profanity filter" .. or "NWS", and many wives/girlfriends posted on a regular basis.

Now we have folks deliberately masking or misspelling to get around the "profanity filter" .. we have .. and I would not normally use these words.. but I need to make the point ... "break" .. "idiot" ... people are told to "break off" on a regular basis... now some will say it is "banter" .. no it is not .. it is foul and rude language .. quite simply.

Hardly surprising many of the ladies have left ... the forum has changed .. and please, don't use the excuse that the "car world is a man's world" .... many men can express themselves fully without descending to the gutter.

I totally agree with you Entwood, in the couple of years I have been here I have seen it change a lot.

I am probably guilty of a lot of the NWS requirement, but hey, it was in big demand by mebers old and new.  But as you may notice, it went through a phase, which hopefully some of the current problems will done the same.

We all suffer moods and day to day hassles, yes it greant to come here to have a "Rant", many of us have done, but tearing people appart for thier problems or oppinions is not on, a debate about them, yes, agro for it, then no.

When I started with a selection of others it was mentioned the forum was changeing then, obviously the more members the more variation there will be, but the fun seems to have dissappeared.  Maybe one day it will return to a nice balance of characters and conversations.  :y

Sorry mate but I fail to see anywhere in my post that I said this is a mans world..........??

As for the swearing.....yep, I agree and hadnt noticed that to be honest, but we are all adults and I dont see the problem.....

I dont think he meant it like that, i think women who are into cars are in the minority on car forums, its predominantly a male domain.
Have to agree with Lizzie as well, ive been on car forums for years and am hardened to most things (swearing , rude avatars etc) but some of it goes a bit far

I can understand this as well. I may be new but i found this forum a bit of a shock till i got used to it. I run my own car forum and have had breaks from it (left things in the other admin capable hands and some damn good Mods) it gets to you sometimes, even when theres no arguing, sometimes its better to have a break from it all. Enjoy your rest and dont stay away too long :y

Unfortunately, I can see several people following Lee's route ... there is a certain antagonism and a lack of "politeness" - for want of a better word - that has become prevalent. From pure spite at times to foul language ... "masked" or not ... and if you dare to disagree with a point of view .......  :(

I find I "skip" many sections/threads now simply as I'm pretty certain what will be there, whereas I used to read them all .. and if there was an "ignore" facility it would be well used by me !!!

Just my views on how the forum has changed ... and not for the better ... nowt else .. :)
Agreed on all counts.....  :'(

Have nearly turned my back onthe forum a few times now, after haveing a little chat with one of the ladies who left on here, it was her that convinced me to stay in a round about way.  So as most of you have probably noticed I dont spend a great deal of time posting any more but at least am still here when my mood suits,

It's just a shame that there seems to be  a few members that feel it's allright to go on the attack when someone is haveing a bad time with life.  Sadly having a "Real" life is not that simple, and especially not that simple for some of the ladies.

Ah well, let's hope that Admin dont get pissed off and dump the forum (Because of some of the hassle ) - Then what you gonna with your spare time.

To be truthful the more members you get the more differing opinions you're going to get thats something that will happen on any forum. I don't think this forum has changed much apart from a few people seem to be getting very upset about what someone else says, you used to be able to give an opinion on here or say something but now it seems, you can't say any bad word or anything that doesn't agree with other people without getting shouted down for it. People keep leaving for no apparent reason or because they're offended. Now one thing is that we're all supposed to be adults on here and you're going to get differing opinions and things said that you don't like but that is life. There is absolutely no need to leave, if you want to then no problem it's your decision to do so but, as we are all adults do something else go and make a cuppa watch the tele or simply let it go over your head. The biggest problem is the fact people keep leaving and going away for a while or for a break which makes things seem a lot worse than they actually are. I also can't understand what Lee says when he says a few that think they're in charge. Everyone knows who is in charge and, personally, I don't see anyone who comes across as if they think they're in charge. (Apart from Steve obviously  ;) ;))

Thats just my two pennies worth.
