Elvis wore a star of david and a crucifix.

"I dont want to get kept out on a technicality" was his explination.

No reason not to believe IMHO :-/

No reason to believe, no reason not to believe. It's all down to how stupid you are really.

I myself believe, but as far as organised religion goes this is as deep as I'll get ;D

You will need to define 'God' for me to answer.

But for the avoidence of doubt god is whatever you want it to be,and if you believe that and it helps then fair enough.

Ryanair deseres all it gets the useless incompitent bunch of arse holes.

But why should anybody be compensated......and why should I as a tax payer be funding any of it.

Its an act of god so most insurance wont cover it.....its just tough and one of lifes little random nasties that comes along

Of the 21 votes, even if the 3 not sure votes were made into positive yes votes then the result becomes

No, 10
yes. 11

If this was represntitve of the country we live in then 52.45% of adults deny Gods existabce.

So being the same ratio then all insurance panels must be considerered the same ratio of 52.45% of non believers, so why do they use an act of God as an excuse in the small print not to pay out.

Very, very good Skruntie. Well thought out.

It's like swearing on the bibble in court, unless all court members including the Judge believe in God, then to me the court is false as they are Hypocrites to start with.

They ask you what your religion is first, and if you don't have one, you don't swear on a holy book.

ANY religion is a faith or belief, nothing more. I would say for the weak of mind but so many religious folk are highly educated & successful so how can they be so weak minded as to base thier whole life on a fairytale regardless of which testament is nothing more than "a read". (fiction).
Religion is the cause of most historic & present conflicts which we as a country still sadly lack the backbone to stand up to so we allow our people to be blown up on buses so as not to offend anyone...GOD forbid...
NO a bearded bloke was never nailed to cross & came back to save us from the extemists today any more than another bloke built an ark & led the animals in 2 by 2.
Did he break!!!! It's all bollix & causes more death than friday night drinking. GET REAL. ::)

Sorry, but most of that is offensive tosh, IMHO.

Spiritual belief has little to do with man-made religious cults. Atheism is far more damaging than belief, for it leads to anarchy.

The majority of religions practice a moral code, to which adherence is of benefit to those who subscribe. The undermining of such values by modern day atheism will inevitably lead to a reduction in such moral values, a prospect which I find uncomfortable to say the least.

That is my view. The fact that you call it all "bollix" is, to my mind, most ill-considered.

A moral code to which they subscribe?...no matter the harm it does to those who don't follow or dare speak out against thier primitave ill thought & irrational beliefs?
If the weak of mind wish to live by such primative tribal values then so be it, best of luck to you but keep your fantasies to yourselves, me, the next bloke, Salmon Rushdie & South park can say & do as we please & no so called religion, extremist group, cult, Tom Cruise, ANY of you will ever change that no matter how huch trouble you make. 9/11.

IMHO -- if there wasn't religion to base many of histories conflicts upon, man, as a race, would have latched on to some other convenient excuse!

imho not a simple subject to answer directly  :-/ and very sensitive but lets first look in some facts..

"God created the universe and heaven in 7 days.."

"The skys created in 7 days .." (from another holy book)

"Women is created from mans rib.." (from another holy book)

 :-?  :o :P

Now , its obvious that those statements dont help believers in the eyes of logic..

And looking in history to all those religion wars, religion painted political fights,

burned and deadly punished people and the blood shed..  >:( >:(  >:( :(

its not that hard to deduce  mankind suffered badly just because of religion.. :(

and for many centuries stopped human development ..and still heavily used and abused

to control billions.. :( :( :(

but on the other side, the questions remains :

how you manage millions-billions of food, sex hungry illiterate, ignorant masses.. :-/ :-/

and can you neglect the mankinds fear of death and the search for immortality  :'( :'(

and to hold a virtual hand in case of desperation.. :'( :(

from Nickbat :

"The majority of religions practice a moral code, to which adherence is of benefit to those who subscribe"

which I believe is correct   :y  :y and was the initial intention to build religion..

from Lioned ;

"You will need to define 'God' for me to answer.

But for the avoidence of doubt god is whatever you want it to be,and if you

believe that and it helps then fair enough"

wise words.. :y :y

and my idea:

if you define god like a human who punishes you with hell ,

if you define bad as evil and if you use religion to control me my answer is a big NO.. >:( >:(

if you define god to be the total of universe and its laws like mathematics,

physics, chemistry and so on and all the creatures living (not only human kind) to be as its own part

(which says STMO is also a part of god and correct in his statement and saying he need pills  ;D ;D -yes god is not perfect  :-X :-X)

and says we all have our spirits which we need to mature and seperate the good and bad (not for the fear of hell)

then count me in.. :)

and for criticising atheism,

try waiting for death without any hope and expectation other than being a part of bugs and soil.. :( :'(

And your religion is?

I am a Christian, albeit not a happy-clappy, regular Sunday church-going type. I do not subscribe to the edicts of the C of E clerics. I do, however, endeavour to follow the basic moral code of Christianity.

My spiritual views are my own. They are dictated neither by religious administrations, nor by the state. I am a free man. I have no need, or desire, to defend my faiths to anyone, least of all to those who have harbour a desire to rid me of them by statute, if necessary. Such people are to be despised. :(
